Mayfield High School Weekly Update
January 20, 2023

Scheduling (2023-2024)
College Credit Plus
On January 24th, at 6:30 pm, we will be holding College Credit Plus (CCP) night in the Mayfield High School cafeteria for those interested in the CCP process. Attendance for this night is highly recommended for students wanting to participate in CCP. Important information has been sent to you via email regarding timelines. Please follow these steps to get started. If you already participate in the CCP program, you do not need to reapply or attend the information night.
CCP night will consist of a brief presentation detailing all that CCP encompasses and a question-and-answer open forum with a panel of CCP coordinators from colleges in the area (Lakeland, Tri-C, Notre Dame College, Kent State, and Cleveland State). Please join us then to learn all about what CCP has to offer! Please contact Ms. Hannah Grazia (hgrazia@mayfieldschools.org) if you have any questions or concerns.

https://www.mayfieldschools.org/LocalScholarships.aspx
We encourage ALL seniors to check out these scholarships and apply to as many as possible.
Follow all directions.
·Some scholarships need to be submitted in hard copy to Mrs. Valentino in the Athletic office, and others are sent via email-- this is clearly stated.
- The deadline to submit is February 22nd at 3pm--unless otherwise stated
- Use the Local Scholarship application available to you and if you need to submit the scholarship in hard copy (to Mrs. Valentino), simply populate the doc, save to your desktop, and print. If you need to submit it electronically, email an attachment to the email provided.
- Some scholarships use their own application, this is clearly stated.
- You MUST include a copy of your mid-year transcript for all applications
. Some donors also want an attendance summary, and if they require this, we will send it separately. Y our mid-year will not be ready until mid-January. Mrs. Bobinski will reach out to you when this is ready.
- Finally, be sure to check the scholarship link often. We continue to receive scholarships and when we do, we will update the post.

Attendance
One critical variable to a student's success in class is attendance. Please note that if a student misses 15 or more days of a class, credit may not be earned. If you or your child will be missing a significant amount of school, please reach out to your child's counselor and administrator to create a plan to support their needs.
Handbook Language:
Fifteen (15) days of absence from a class for a semester may result in failure to receive credit for the course unless an extension is necessary due to special circumstances. Circumstances that could result in extension beyond the 15-day limit:
▪ School related and school-approved activities
▪ Prolonged illness supported by a physician's statement
▪ Death in the family ▪ Exclusions from class or suspensions from school
▪ Observation of religion
▪ Emergency reasons presented to the administration
IMPORTANT: The purpose of this policy is not to withhold credit but rather to encourage students to attend school regularly in order to receive teacher instructions and to successfully complete their classes. Students are expected to arrange for make-up with the classroom teachers immediately after returning to school. Failure to do so could result in no credit being granted for any missed schoolwork.
Senior Talent Show
