Tiffin Elementary

1/31/2020 Friday Note

Notes from Mrs. Stull

January 31:

Congratulations to our teachers and our students on a very successful FAST assessment window. Preliminary scores are showing that, as a school, we improved greatly from our fall scores to our winter scores. To celebrate our success, we will be having a sledding party in the very near future. We will watch weather reports and try to pick a day where the conditions are optimal for sledding. A note closer to the date will be sent out to remind parents so that everyone has their snow gear at school.

Bus stop snow piles: Parents, if your child waits at a bus stop to get on the bus, please speak with him or her about the dangers of playing on the large snow piles near the street where buses and passing traffic are traveling. Students should always wait for the bus a safe distance away on the sidewalk.

2020 Kindergarten Roundup for February 26, 2020 at 2:00PM

Children residing in the Clear Creek Amana Community School District who will be five years old on or before September 15, 2020, should plan to attend Kindergarten Roundup at their attendance center Wednesday, February 26, 2020.

Kindergarten Roundup is an opportunity for your new student to visit their school and meet their teachers, principal and fellow classmates. Parents and students receive a brief overview of the kindergarten program and its academic/social expectations. Attendance also helps the district plan for the next year's staffing.

Please offer us assistance by informing your neighbors that have children ready to start school.

All families with incoming kindergartners are encouraged to call their nearest elementary school, even if the child already has older brothers or sisters at CCA. For Tiffin Elementary, please call Kali Stockman at 319-545-2081.

Upcoming Dates:

  • 2/18-2/20- PLP's make sure to schedule a time with your child's teacher

  • 2/20-2/21 No school

Chess Club

TES Chess Club

Is your 2nd or 3rd grader interested in playing or learning to play Chess? The TES Chess Club will meet Thursdays after school until 4:30 in room C103, Mr. Villhauer’s classroom. We will begin February 6th. Students will learn the basics of Chess and have the opportunity to play against each other. If your child is interested please fill out the parent permission slip found in the Friday note. Questions can be emailed to Jeff Villhauer (second grade teacher) at jeffvillhauer@ccaschools.org.

We are also looking for adults that are interested in helping with the club from 3:20- 4:30 each Thursday. No Chess experience is necessary, but you do need to complete the district volunteer training. Please contact secretary Kali Stockman to confirm volunteer completion. There is a spot at the bottom of the parent permission slip to indicate if you would like to volunteer.
