Summer update Aug. 23, 2019
It has been fun having the Glencoe Band here for two weeks, and sadly for us they are gone today! Sounds like they can finally get into their building, so good for them! Today we have the Chamber choir over here practicing which is also great!
A few more new staff to tell you about. Eric Gronseth is our new behavior specialist supporting both our SLC program and a support for our entire school. He comes to us from the Beaverton School district and has a wealth of skills and knowledge to share with us!
We also are excited to have another half time ERC teacher which we will share with Eastwood Elementary. Yulena Sukharev has been in the district several years and joins our outstanding Special Education Team! Also joining us is Beverly Byers, an English Language Learner Specialist. We share Beverly with Minter Bridge Elementary.
We have some new classified staff joining our team as well. In the SLC program, Mathew Hayden comes to us from Evergreen Middle School. He is looking forward to being back at NPES having been a student here himself! Maria Hernandez will be supporting students in the classroom, formerly a bilingual instructional assistant at Imlay ES, and Elise Rodemack joins our IA team as well after being a long term sub for us last year. Please join me in welcoming all of these wonderful staff members!
PTO is off and running! Please check out the link at the bottom of this page for the August newsletter. Meetings will be the 1st Tuesday at 6PM and the 3rd Thursday at 8AM. I hope you will consider coming to at least one this year and find out more about what they do!
The first big PTO event is the Glow Golf Tournament at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 6. Many volunteers are needed, so I hope you will join us for an evening of fun!
This year we will have a parent information night on Sept. 19 at 6:00 PM. Topics will include an overview of our safety plan and PBIS systems, volunteer opportunities, general info about school, and an overview of the new health curriculum that I know many of you have questions about. Mrs. Clayton and I will be hosting and will provide as much time as needed for Q & A. We'll also have some computers set up so you can update your information in parent vue. Although students will not be turned away, this really is an information time for parents and childcare will not be available.
Enjoy these last days of summer!
