Nurse's Clinic Update- Flu Shots Oct. 8
Happy Fall!
As we head into our 6th full week of school, I would like to remind you of some important school policies concerning Medication/illness/communicable diseases.
Students will be sent home and will be required to stay out of school with:
- Fever of 100.0 F or higher
- Vomiting or 3 or more loose stools/diarrhea
- Rashes of any sort not caused by allergies
- Red, irritated eyes with discharge
- Signs of communicable disease (chicken pox, influenza, strep throat.
Children should remain at home after an illness until all of the following guidelines are met:
- Fever-free (99.5 or lower) for 24 hours without having taken any fever reducing medicine
- Free from vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours
- Antibiotics need to be taken for 24 hours for any contagious disease, including pink eye
- Diagnosis of skin rash by a physician, and on any prescribed medication for 24 hours, including ringworm
- Lice (pediculosis): If a student is found to have head lice at school, they will be sent home and can return the next day provided they have been treated with a special lice shampoo and checked by the school nurse upon return to school. TPCA will not exclude a child for the presence of nits, however ongoing monitoring by the school nurse and parents will be expected.
Certain diseases require reporting to the State Board of Health, and we ask that you please let us know immediately if your child is diagnosed with a communicable disease such as chicken pox, influenza, and hepatitis, among others. TPCA reserves the right to require a doctor’s clearance for a student to return to school. Should you have any questions about what to report, just call me and I will be happy to discuss this.
A VERY important reminder: Students of any age are not to carry ANY medication on their person, unless they have a written doctor’s permission- and that written permission MUST be on file in the nurse’s office. This includes over the counter medicines and prescriptions, and even includes cough drops! Please check your student’s backpacks and remind them of this policy, so they are not put into a precarious position while at school. We do provide cough drops, Tylenol and Ibuprofen, and I am always happy to work with you regarding any prescription medication administration here at school.
Reminder for Flu shot clinic: Please stop by the clinic door and sign up for our flu shot clinic, to be held at TPCA academy in the clinic, on Oct. 8th from 4-6pm. The vaccine will vary in cost from $19-$27, depending on numbers. If your insurance plan covers preventative vaccines, then simply bring your insurance card with you, and Meijer will directly bill your plan. This means you do not have to pay out of pocket for this flu vaccine! Please join us in our effort of protecting ourselves, our families, and our community in the prevention of the spread of influenza this year.
As always, for any questions, please call or email me! I am always happy to hear from you and your children.

Order Your Yearbook and Share Pictures with the Yearbook Staff!
TPCA's Golden Eagle Yearbook Staff is eager to get started with all matters of yearbook. With our school's verse being "You Belong," Romans 12:5b, we desire for everyone to "belong" to the contribution of the photos for this year's edition. Simply by creating an account with www.replayit.com, you can easily upload pictures that you take at school-events. Since the yearbook staff cannot be at all events or in all classrooms 24/7, you can fill the gap. Our staff will review submitted pictures, but please note that we could not possibly include ALL submitted photos. So, be selective in the ones you choose to upload. Pictures taken with digital cameras are better, as the resolution on many cell phones doesn't always allow us to resize the photo.
To make sure that you won't miss out on the great moments of the year, be sure to order your copy of the Golden Eagle Yearbook. The sooner you order, the better the pricing!
Ordering is easy with internet access and a credit card. Go to the following link: http://www.jostens.com.
Order by October 31, 2015, and the price is ONLY $25.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Danielle Tooley, adviser, by email at dtooley@tpcs.org.
Thank you!
