Principal’s Prose
Greetings Team,
I have three words I am so happy to share and declare with only three days situated between now and the start summer(for most)...WE DID IT! IT was not easy. IT was a challenge. IT was a learning experience. IT demanded the best of us. IT forced us to grow. IT demanded we work together. IT stressed us. IT tested us. IT validated us. IT rewarded us, and most importantly, IT made us, US! We made it, we did it, and we did IT together; at which I could’t be more grateful for the experience of successfully founding our special school and putting US on the map!
As as we approach these final days of of our inaugural school year, the words of my friend Porky Pig eloquently ring true, “That’s all folks”. However, if we thoughtfully unpack exactly what “all” means, and has meant this school year, it’s quite a bit to reflect on. In the coming days try to think of all you’ve done for students and what your students have done for you. Think about all of the days you maybe didn’t feel your best, but you still gave your all. Think about all of the days you made on the spot adjustments to meet the need of students. Think about all of the moments with students that made you smile, or made it hard to maintain your calm. Lastly, as you reflect on all the success, think about all of that you wish you’d done. It’s hard to do it all in one season, however, there’s all-ways next year!
In closing, with the remaining time we have in the concluding moments of 2018-2019, my challenge to us ALL is to leave our ALL with the students of Sudie TAG. This challenge includes looking deep within these final days with students, as there’s still important work to do. As our fourth graders have a long awaited fun filled journey to the Capitol, both fifth and sixth graders have awards programs. The fifth graders will mark their transition to middle school with the bridging ceremony and an evening celebration, whereas the sixth graders have a special “something-something” planned for our most senior students too. Picnics are Wednesday and the marathon to capture close out signatures will conclude with a Sudie TAG Team celebration/outing this Thursday off campus. A busy week indeed, but afterwards...
“That’s All Folks!”
We’re almost there,
MJ
Meanwhile...in front of a home situated in neighboring Highland Park....that’s right!
