Important News from Mr Hoogenstyn
Dear North Family & Friends,
Welcome to November! We are excited to welcome in the fall. With the change in seasons, please remember to check the weather forecast each day. Our goal is to get outside each day. With that intent we want our students to be dressed appropriately. Please see the newsletter under “Dress for the Weather” for the guidelines.
Lost and Found:
Many items have been sent to the Lost and Found. There are lunch bags, water bottles, a witches hat and more. We would like the lost and found items to return to their homes. All unclaimed items will be donated to Goodwill on Friday, December 2nd. If you feel your child has left an item at school, please come to the office for a visitors pass to look through our lost and found.
Transportation Changes:
As you will see in our newsletter under 'Transportation Changes', we ask that if you have any end of the day transportation changes for your student, please contact the office by 3:00pm by email (northoffice@nvps.net) or phone (616-361-3450).
Please make sure to read through the newsletter for all of the important information going on at North. Have a great week!
Go Wildcats!
Best,
Mr H.

Parents/Guardians you cannot send medicine to school with your student regardless if it is Over The Counter or Prescription and a Northview permission for medication at school form must be filled out. Medication Permission Form
Continue to practice good hand and cough hygiene with your children.
The weather is getting cooler, please make sure your student has the appropriate clothing for school and recess.
For the younger children, it is a great idea to keep an extra pair of underwear and pants in a ziploc baggie in the bottom of their backpack (accidents happen).
A fever is a temperature greater than 100.4F ( according to the CDC). Do not send your child to school for 24 hours after the fever has broken and without the use of fever-reducing medication. A low grade fever is 99.0 - 100.3F. If your child is not feeling well enough to attend school, please keep them home.

Helping Hands Holiday Giving
North Oakview Elementary School’s “Helping Hands” project will provide all students with an opportunity to be involved in providing for those in need within our own school! We look forward to teaching our students the importance of thinking of others and are hopeful that the holiday season will be joyful for each and every family in our school. We are North Oakview!

Mileage Club Update
It's that time of year again! The snow is falling. So for the safety of our students we are putting a pause on mileage club until spring. Slippery surfaces are not conductive for safe and effective running. North Oakview will plan to host Mileage Club again in the spring when the weather changes.
Thank you to all parents who have volunteered their time this fall! We are very grateful for you enthusiasm and support for physical wellness. We will send out another sign up genius in March for our spring session.
In the meantime, your students can sign up for PE club which takes place during lunch recess time. If you have any questions about this please contact Mrs. Borgman at hborgman@nvps.net. Thank you!
Amazon Wishlist for Staff
The PTC has created a "wish list" to help stock the staff lounge at North Oakview. It's set up to ship right to the office, but if you would prefer to purchase an item from another source, please feel free! We'll add items throughout the year as the staff identify needs. Mrs. Davis in the office says are out of chocolate!
Thank you for supporting our school.

Mindful Moment
As we begin this year together, find moments of calm for your family with new resources and familiar favorites all in one place. Share breathing strategies with your kids (and see if they work for you too!) Take a break through one of the online resources and check back often to see what's new. Use the mindfulness calendar to incorporate small pauses into every day.
Sending you calm,
Mrs. Eyestone
