Kristallnacht
The Beginning of Hell
What took place that infamous day?
Kristallnicht translated into English means, "night of broken glass." It was just that for the Jews in all of Germany and Austria on November 9th-10th 1938. German and Austrian civilians and German paramilitary forces demolished Jewish homes and hospitals, ransacked Jewish schools, robbed and destroyed Jewish businesses, and burned thousands of Synagogues. 91+ people were said to have been killed but over 30,000 Jews were put into Nazi Concentration Camps during this attack. The reason for the atrocious, uncalled for attack was the death of German Diplomat Ernst vom Rath by a German-born Polish Jew, Herschel Grynszpan. This event was the beginning of the Final Solution and the Holocaust.
