Claires Court Bulletin

Internal examinations this week!

GCSE resit Mathematics and English examinations take place in January. Timetables for individual students have been sent out. Please note that the first Mathematics exam is on Tuesday 6 January in the afternoon which is the day BEFORE term begins. These exams will all be held at the Senior Boys site in Ray Mill Road.

OH! What a Lovely War

What a treat for those of us lucky enough to catch this excellent show! Our Sixth Form drama students were the stars of the show and you can see lots of photos in the gallery. Congratulations to all the actors, actresses and musicians, as well as Mrs Olivier, Mr Roach and Miss Goodsell on a fantastic production.

Dr Alison Maitland of Lane 4, who worked with the GB rowing team for the 2012 Olympics, gave a fascinating talk to our psychology and sports students about working in the field of Sports Psychology. Mrs Rogers said ' This talk reinforced our work on the growth mindset as all athletes can improve performance through effort and extra training. She also highlighted the importance of resilience and adaptability, not just in sport but as a life skill.'

The good news is that Christmas Party has not been cancelled.

The bad news is that the venue needs a confirmed list of attendees by 8 December, so you must pay on Monday if you have not already done so.

Wednesday 17 December 7.30 - 11.30 pm

Magnolia Park Country Club, Valley Road, Hughenden Valley, High Wycombe, HP14 4LA.

The theme for the party is 'TV Characters' so there should be plenty of scope for imaginative costumes.

All rugby and hockey players in the Sixth Form have now received their invitation. This popular annual event will be held on Friday 12 December from 7.30 - 12 midnight at Senior Boys. It is being arranged again for you by the BTEC group and money raised will go towards the next tour. Reserve your places now for a great night out.

Congratulations to Muhammad Ali of Year 12 who has just been appointed as the Youth Ambassador for RBWM. We know he will do an excellent job of representing the views of young people to the council.

Will Tapping, also of Year 12, has won the President's Cup for collecting the most sponsorship for the Lion's Club Fund Run.

More success for our rowers! At Hampton Head on Saturday Dan Gordon came in 4th and Toby Jones 7th of the 35 U18 scullers, while Jonathan Cameron was second of the 42 U17 group. Good performances were also put in by Alex Richardson, Ben Smith, Joe Sanders, Will Hobden and Luke Bollon.

The closure of one part or all of the School is a rare event, but as winter is now approaching and the weather is getting colder, we would like to remind parents that full guidance is available on the School website.

SnowFlow Cascades have already been sent home to all those who have returned their details. Parents are reminded to check the School website’s homepage for updated information during any period of bad weather.

The menus for next term are now online, but will be offered from Monday 15 December in line with the new Allergen legislation.
