News to Know
Our Valentine's Party is next Friday, Feb. 12th. Students will be distributing and opening Valentines, making a frosted heart cookie, and watching a short video. I have set up another Perfect Potluck for donations for our cookie-making. Please visit http://www.PerfectPotluck.com/meals.php?t=SJLA5278 to donate. Thank you!!
Students are welcome to bring Valentine's for their friends next Friday, however I do ask that students bring one for everyone in class (not just "special" friends) to avoid any hurt feelings. I have attached a class list to the newsletter email to help with names. Thanks for your understanding. Valentines may be store bought or home-made. :-)
Students may create a Valentine's mailbox to hold their cards! This is a yearly, at-home project. Details will come home on Thursday and homework time on Monday and Thursday next week will be allowed for work on this project. But for now, be looking for a shoe box (or similarly-sized box) for the project!
We will be having our annual Family Chess Night on Wednesday, Feb. 17th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the Hershey Library. A flyer with details is coming home today and is also attached to the newsletter email. If you are able to attend, please bring your own chess boards; I will bring our classroom sets, too. It's always a fun evening. Hope to see many of you there!!
ISTEP Testing Schedule
3rd graders will begin ISTEP testing on Monday, Feb. 29th. 2nd graders will have alternative activities with another adult while I test the 3rd graders. The schedule is:
Monday, 02/29: Mathematics (40 minutes)
Tuesday, 03/01: English/Language Arts (35 minutes)
Wednesday, 03/02: English/Language Arts (2 sessions - 25 min. & 60 min.)
All testing will be completed in the morning; please make every effort to have your 3rd grader here during these mornings. Also, remember a good night's sleep and a good breakfast are always a help. Lastly, please help me emphasize that while the test is important and we should do our best, it is NOT something over which to stress out! Seriously, it's not worth it. If it were up to me....well, we'll just leave it at we'll do our best and then move on! :-)
