Simple Machines
By: Nadia Estelle
In class, we have been discussing simple machines. Simple machines are simple tools used to make work easier. The six simple machines are wheel and axle, lever, wedge, screw, pulley, and inclined plane.
Wedge
An object with at least one slanting side ending in a sharp edge. A few examples may be a knife and a ax.
Screw
An inclined plane wrapped around a pole which holds things together or lifts materials. A few examples would be a jar lid, screw, and a bottle cap.
Inclined Plane
The steeper the slope, the more effort it takes to push/pull something up. A few examples would be a parking ramp, ladders, stairs, etc.
