March in the Middle School
What a month!
We knew that it would happen! As quickly as March came in, it blew out again. There was a whole lot going on this month. There was the Cheetah Showcase, Read Across America, the Science Fair, and we even got to enjoy a SNOW DAY!!! Take a look!!
Read Across America
On March 2nd, we welcomed Read Across America. The students brought in books of their choice for the daily Drop Everything And Read. As a school, our goal was to accumulate 40,000 minutes of reading time.
Pi Day
Mrs. Ghosh guided the students through using Pi in calculations, the way it should be used!

Video Production
The sixth grade social studies students are in a unit on Africa. We are doing a 'jigsaw' approach. the students are assigned a lesson in the chapter. They study their part and create a video teaching the content. This is a title screen from one of the videos.

The students are importing videos, doing voice-overs, using stop animation, among other techniques. They are having fun!
Math Models
In a unit on 3-D shapes and calculating volume, the students were tasked with studying a landmark building. then they used toothpicks, raisins, marshmallows, and styrofoam balls to build a model.

Emilee took home the honor of first place winner in the fifth grade. She is pictured here with her mother and grandmother. Her project was on what is the best way to cut onions to avoid the crying response.
