Counselors meet with freshmen monthly providing workshops & meeting individually with students. This month we are sharing tips on finding academic success, explaining credits, GPA and graduation requirements. Meetings are occurring during CCE & AVID.

This is a great time for students to ask questions about admissions requirements, campus life, major pathways of study & financial aid opportunities specific to each college. All grades are welcome to attend!

Saturday, Nov. 5 from 10am - 4pm @ Renton High School in Washington

Admission is free and students can get accepted to colleges and earn scholarships on the spot with admission fees waived. HBCU's and other colleges will be in attendance. Students should bring a copy of their transcript and SAT scores to the event.

College Possible is looking for college-bound Juniors & Seniors. The program at McDaniel supports students with college exploration, ACT preparation, completing college applications, financial aid & scholarship search.

Student requirements:

• 2.5 GPA or higher
• Qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch
• Interest in earning Bachelor's Degree

Students admitted to the program are supported through 11th-12th grade with a coach as well as into their college years. Applications are due October 21.

LEDA is dedicated to helping exceptional young people overcome challenging circumstances to reach and succeed at the most selective colleges. Their support guides students from the admission process through graduation and beyond.

The do-to item for seniors & their families this month is completing their FAFSA/ORSAA. Any senior planning on continuing their education next year (university, community college or trade program) should be completing the necessary forms to get help paying for school.

Counselors & the college/career center supports are ready to help students complete this task.

Need HELP? Plan to attend our help session, Tuesday Oct. 11, 6:00-7:30pm in the Library.

Come prepared with the information in this Worksheet or the 2021 Federal Tax information of the parent/guardian & student.

Seniors who missed the counselor presentation on the college application process in September should check their Canvas "Add'l Student Support" page. Adventist Health Student Healthcare Leaders - Open to 10th-12th grade. Student Healthcare Leaders (SHL) give high school students an introduction to the abundant and diverse career opportunities available in health care. This FREE after-school program uses interactive explorations and panel discussions to help young people explore health care, become enlightened about what it includes and engage with health care professionals.

Juniors & Seniors interested in learning more about careers in Architecture, Construction, or Engineering? ACE may be for you! The ACE Mentor Program of Oregon is a free after-school program that runs from January to May. Seniors interested in these career paths are eligible to apply for ACE scholarships to a four-year university, community college or apprenticeship training program.

iUrban Teen & Onto Innovation present a FREE specialty visit

Onto Innovation, in Hillsboro, is a leader in the high-tech semiconductor industry.

Students will have lunch, tour the Onto clean room in a "bunny suit" & participate in 2 hands-on workshops to learn about Onto products and systems.

Advanced registration on Eventbrite is required and spaces are limited.

Representatives from the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and War Resisters League will be here to talk to students interested in learning about their branches.
