Alief Early College High School was named #1 Gold Ribbon High School in the Children at Risk rankings.
Children at Risk's Gold Ribbon School is an accolade for high-performing schools serving mostly at-risk or economically disadvantaged students. The Houston Chronicle interviewed Principal Brandi Brotherton about the school's achievements.
Alief ISD high school students won first place in the 18 Club Division at the 2023 AAU Orlando Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
After placing first, Ashlynn Hawkins (Taylor), Kayla Mendenhall (Elsik), Jamya Fields (Elsik), Nina McCoy (Elsik) and T'aja Hardy (Taylor), who are a part of First Triumph Volleyball Club, were invited to play in a national volleyball tournament in Las Vegas in May.
The Alief ISD CTE Culinary Arts Program took first place in the school category at the Houston Westchase Rotary Club Soup-er Bowl competition.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will go back to senior scholarships.
The Miller Intermediate School Men of Brilliance Step Team placed first at the Alief Taylor High School Talent Show.

Anamercedes Sanchez (Elsik girls soccer) and Edwin Vargas (Taylor boys soccer) were selected for their accomplishments on and off the field.
