You are to have 10 total certificates to submit to Mrs. Anita. When all TEN (10) are completed please submit to Mrs. Anita. Do not submit the first 5 and then bring 4 more later... Submit once ALL 10 have been completed and printed.
For those that have ALREADY completed all TEN (10) compliance trainings prior to August 13th, you will be able to use this time as work time in your classrooms. YEA!
(If all 10 are submitted to Mrs. Anita prior to August 8th, you'll earn a jeans pass for Wednesday, August 29th!)
PARAS: This is not the same for you! You will be completing all 10 of your compliance trainings here on campus in the computer lab starting on the morning of August 10th. You will earn your jeans pass for Wednesday, August 29th by not having any missed punch forms to complete during staff development weeks! Please be mindful of times and need to punch in.
Getting to Know You
Who is this?
(If it is your piece of info, don't make it too easy for someone to figure out! You'll submit your answers to all five clues on August 6th. Prizes to be given out!)
1. This person has a family lineage/connection to the chocolate tycoon Milton Hershey!
2. One of our staff members is a scuba diver!
3. This mom has triplets plus one! (I can't even imagine how busy you are.)
4. This person probably thinks, "I wish Mrs. Nichols knew I am a vegetarian when she provides food." (Sorry...I'll try to be more veggie friendly.)
5. One of our staff members is exactly 10 years younger than Mrs. Nichols. (to the date!)
Data & Goal Setting
Start thinking now . . .
Upon returning to campus, one of your tasks will be to submit your professional goal(s). We'll help walk you through the process. I just want you to begin thinking over what you want to dig for. Goals will be written after you've received your class lists and we've reviewed campus data.
Upcoming Events
- Everyone should have started moving in now. **Please note: We are not fully staffed with our custodians. So if you need your trash taken out, you unfortunately may need to address this personally ESPECIALLY if you have FOOD in your trash. We do not need extra "visitors" in our classrooms.
- August 6: All teachers return to campus; breakfast will be provided! (Yum Yum)
- August 8: All TEN (10) compliance and flex day certificates are due to Anita in order to earn a jeans pass for August 29th.
- August 9: Back to School Fair @ the Excel Center 5-8pm (plan on attending for a portion of time this evening; we'll sign up for specific times on Monday, August 6th.)
- August 16: We will be taking our staff picture at 8:00am! You will wear jeans and your the JWL Spirit Shirt that will be provided
Meet the Teacher Night, 5 - 7pm; You will still wear jeans and your JWL Spirit Shirt for this event.
- August 17: Convocation at PAC; We will re-wear our JWL spirit shirts with jeans. It is also tradition for our campus to all sit as one family during this event.
- August 20: First day with students! We will wear our JWL spirit shirts (yes, again!) with khaki or black pants and tennis shoes (or other comfortable school appropriate shoe).
Friday Feedings

You can email her at anita.schmitt@terrellisd.org.
Until I know all have a TISD email address, I've added your personal emails as listed in TJN to my contacts so that you have all of our updates. Once you have your TISD emails, please let me know so I can then delete your personal email addresses so you don't have to weed through duplicate emails.
Thanks!

FIELD TRIPS
- NO field trips to be taken after spring break 2019, unless it is pre-approved as an outing to get non-testing students off campus during state assessment, and it's paid for by a grant or PTO (not collecting payment from students).
- ALL payments collected for field trips MUST be collected 3 weeks PRIOR to field trip because the payment check MUST be requested at least 2 weeks PRIOR to the trip being taken.
- As always, NO parent/guardian is to sign their student out from teacher on field trip. All students ride to the location on the bus and all students will return to school on the bus. Parents/guardians may sign them out in the front office upon return.
No worries, there will also be a section in the campus handbook that refers to these expectations. I'm just letting you all know early so that you can plan accordingly. I am happy when our students get to experience new places that will help them better understand their classwork and your instructional topics.
