Out of My Mind
By: Sharon Draper
What is it about?
Melody, the main character, has a disability called Cerebral Palsy, that makes it so she cannot talk or really move, besides a nod once in a while and moving her hands a little. She gets really frustrated when she has something to say but she cant say it . This story is about how she lives through this everyday and how one little machine changed her life forever.
Character Traits
Melody is super smart, caring and brave. Although no one knows it, she has been taking everything in for 11 years and has learned a lot. She is caring because she doesn't just think of herself and always wants to make other people happy.
Theme
The theme of the story is that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Just because melody couldn't talk doesn't mean that she wasn't smart and she doesn't have her own thoughts and she is someone .
