SPS Board Highlights
Sept. 9, 2019
Gateway to Prevention's David Holland and SPS District Nurse Health Coordinator La Rita Haffey showed board members a new medication lockbox similar to those being installed in every classroom in the district. Funded by Gateway to Prevention, these lockboxes will keep teachers' medication secure and allow medicines that students may need quickly, such as Epi Pens, to be kept in the classroom. SPS is the first district in Oklahoma to use these secure medication lockboxes.
Superintendent's Report
During her board report, Dr. Grace recognized Shawnee High School teacher Sara Branson, who was recently commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. Branson was named the Class 64/64A Distinguished Honor Graduate. She also received the fitness award.
