Wescott accepts Blue Ribbon Award in D.C.!
Just this afternoon, Dr. Brian Wegley, Third-Grade Teacher Joel Losoff and Principal Dr. Chris Brown were in Washington, D.C. to accept the National Blue Ribbon Award on behalf of Wescott.
Dr. Wegley tweeted from the ceremony: "Congratulations to our tremendous staff, students, and community! Thank you to Mr. Losoff and Dr. Brown for their presence at the ceremony. We were all incredibly proud and honored!"
Our school will host a Blue Ribbon assembly in the next couple of weeks to honor the students, staff and volunteers and community members who made this possible. Congratulations to all!

News from the Wescott PTO
International Night is Jan. 27 - Save the Date!
For the first time, Wescott and Willowbrook PTO will co-host an International Night event at the state-of-the-art Maple School on January 27. Save the date on your calendar because you don’t want to miss a night of fun and cultural immersion.
The event is open to all Wescott and Willowbrook families. There will be booths from different countries that showcase their unique cultures and traditions. Students will experience cultural activities at each table while enjoying delicious ethnic snacks. The event will serve as a window for the students to see the rich cultures in our community and an opportunity for families from different cultural backgrounds to showcase their heritages.
We are calling for volunteers to sign up to be the booth/table hosts. If you are interested in owning a booth, please click here or the button below to sign up. For any questions, please contact wescottpto@district30.org.
November is Native American Heritage Month
District 30 joins our nation in recognizing November as National Native American Heritage Month or, as it is also referred to, American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month.
According to the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), this month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. It's also a time to learn about tribes, gain awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.

2023 School Board Elections
Caucus Endorsement Deadline is Nov. 21
Candidates who are interested in seeking endorsement from the District 30 School Board Caucus should contact Co-Chairs Karen Burstein (karenrb27@comcast.net) and Katie Schick (kateschick0609@gmail.com) by Monday, November 21. The School Board Caucus is a committee of District 30 residents that includes families both with and without children enrolled in Willowbrook, Wescott and Maple schools. The Caucus' role is to source, screen and endorse potential school board candidates. To be considered by the Caucus, candidates will need to complete a detailed application as well as an interview.
Nominating Petition Deadline is Dec. 19
Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 will have four school board seats to be filled at the Consolidated Election on April 4, 2023. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2027.
Candidates for the office of the school board can now circulate nominating petitions for signatures. The period for filing nominating petitions runs from December 12 through December 19, 2022.
A candidate for the school board is required to file the nominating petitions, Statement of Candidacy, and receipt for filing their Statement of Economic Interests with the applicable county election clerk and not with the school board secretary or the administrative offices of the school district. The county clerk may have petition forms available, or blank petitions may be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website: elections.il.gov.
Candidates may also want to consult the “2023 Candidate’s Guide” (https://www.elections.il.gov//Downloads/ElectionOperations/PDF/2023CanGuide.pdf), which can be downloaded from the Illinois State Board of Elections website, or contact the county clerk or board of election commissioners regarding the requirements of filing. Candidates and voters can get information about District 30 from our website and learn about being a school board member from the Illinois Association of School Boards at: iasb.com/elections.
