News from the Nest
During this Thanksgiving season, the staff and students of Doyle Elementary School plan to share the spirit of this time of warmth, caring, and love with families from our local neighborhood. We would like to share this project as an entire school community and create Thanksgiving baskets for our families who need extra support. Through this cooperative effort of Doyle’s staff, students, parents and community members, we can realize again the valuable lesson that real joy in life comes from sharing.
Please help us by reading the collection list, which will tell you what each classroom is asked to contribute. The Thanksgiving Share collection will be from Thursday, November 7 to Monday, November 18, 2013.
If you would like to donate a turkey for our collection you can either donate your “free turkey” receipt that you earned from your grocery store or purchase a turkey for our collection.
Please send in a note about either type of donation and include your name and contact information in an envelope marked “Attention Ms. Kowalchick / Thanksgiving Share.” If you are donating your “free turkey” receipt, please send it in with your note.
**Please understand that this project is purely voluntary.**
Doyle is asking for your support in collecting food for Thanksgiving. In order to have a balanced variety, we have suggested items for each classroom.
Please send in any donations by Monday, November 18, 2013.
Collection boxes will be set up in your child’s classroom.
Thank you for your help!

What creative parents and children we have at Doyle! Our scarecrows produced a gallery of hoots and howls. Congratulations to Mrs. McPhee’s class for winning the best scarecrow contest at our Fall Festival.

There will be two sessions offered that evening. Feel free to attend one or both of the sessions.
- Zumba is a group fitness class that is based on international rhythms. It is a cardio dance and fitness move format that is fun, easy and anyone can participate.
- Barefoot Vitality is a fusion of pilates, yoga, plyometrics, and strength training that is unique and fun for everyone.
To ensure safety, fun, and the ability to get the most out of your chosen sessions, the maximum number of participants per session will be limited to 75 people (first come, first serve). I will be sure to contact you if the session that you have selected is full. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
*** We will be collecting non-perishable food items for Doyle families during our Thanksgiving Share collection.
The first and hopefully annual Doyle Fall Festival was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated items and attended this fun event.
It was a beautiful autumn day and entertainment was provided by School of Rock, The Fitzpatrick school of Irish Dancers, gymnasts from High Performance and a karate demo from Action Karate and Wendy Dinn's small animals. There was face painting, tattoos, colored hairspray, and games; including a football toss, softball throw, tug of war, sack races and an amazing obstacle course to name a few. The gaga tournament was very exciting with a third grade team winning the whole thing. There was plenty of food; pizza, hotdogs, pretzels and a delicious assortment of treats at the bake sale. Plus a fun cake walk, awesome raffle baskets and incredibly creative scarecrows made by our students.
We are excited to plan for next years event, so please forward suggestions and consider volunteering. Thanks again for making Doyle such a fun community for our kids!
