STAAR Testing--May 10-12th

STAAR testing will be on May 10-12th. All 3rd-5th grade students will be testing on the following days:

Tuesday, May 10th: STAAR Math (3rd-5th Grade)

Wednesday, May 11th: STAAR Reading (3rd-5th Grade)

Thursday, May 12th: STAAR Science (5th Grade)

This week and the days leading up to your child’s test, they will be having STAAR Review Days. It is very important that your child be present on these days. The teachers will be doing intense review of all the TEKS learning objectives that will be tested on the STAAR tests. Thank you for supporting your child’s academic success by ensuring they come to school on these days.

We want our students to do the best they possibly can, so please ensure that your child is ready to do their best by ensuring they get a good night’s sleep and arrive at school early enough to eat a healthy breakfast without rushing.

Parents of 3rd-5th grade students are invited to write a letter of encouragement to their children and send it to school on Monday, May 9th in a sealed envelope with the student's name on it. The letters can be sent with their children or dropped off in the front office on Monday. Classroom teachers will give them the notes before testing on Tuesday.

Closed Campus May 10-12th for STAAR Testing

To ensure that our 3rd-5th graders have the best testing environment on STAAR days, the campus will be closed to visitors and guests on May 10-12th. We will not be able to accommodate guests for breakfast and lunch on these days.

*Please note that student lunch times are likely to change on testing days. If you plan on dropping off lunch for your child during the day, please call the front office to verify your child's lunch time.*

PTA Fine Arts Night--May 12th

Allen families are invited to join us for PTA Fine Arts Night on Thursday, May 12th from 6:00-7:30 PM. We will begin with a brief PTA meeting at 6:00 PM and then proceed with our Family Fine Arts activities. Second and third grade students will be performing a song for this event. NISD Data Verification--Student Enrollment for 2022-2023

Parents and guardians of current NISD students received this very important email from NISD last week:

We are very honored to be working with your child in NISD this year! In preparing for the 2022-23 school year, NISD has opened Data Verification for all of our currently enrolled school students beginning today. It is important that Data Verification be completed by June 2, 2022 to ensure that your child has a space at their current or home campus for which they are eligible to attend next year. If a Data Verification form is submitted after June 2, 2022, it is possible that your child could be sent to a cluster campus if additional students enroll during open registration and classes become full. During this time, your child’s registration takes priority.

Please note that THE HAC ACCOUNT ATTACHED TO THIS EMAIL is the only one that has access to complete this process.

Here’s how to begin:

Go to the NISD Home Access Center (HAC) website https://hac.nisd.net/

Follow the steps below:

If you already have a HAC account:

1) Your LOGIN is the email address to which the message was sent.

2) Your PASSWORD is the same HAC password that you have previously used.

3) After logging in, click on the REGISTRATION tab.

4) Click on Update Enrollment tab

5) Click START

6) The first time you log in you will be asked to certify that you are over 13 years old. You will then enter your student’s birthday to validate the registration account.

7) You will be asked if the student is returning to NISD for the 2022-23 school year. If your child will be returning to ANY NISD school next year, select YES. If your child will NOT be returning to ANY NISD school, select NO and follow the question prompt.

8) Click NEXT.

9) Review your child’s data and update any information needed. Click SUBMIT to complete the registration process for your child.

10) If you have multiple elementary students, click on the CHANGE STUDENT icon on the far right of your student’s name in HAC, select another student and follow the same steps above. Review data and complete the registration process for each student.

If you have any trouble accessing HAC or you do not see one of your children, please contact the school office and ask to speak with the Attendance Secretary as they may be able to assist you with this process. If the campus is not able to resolve your issue, please complete the form using the link below and District staff can reset your password or link students in a family if necessary.

HAC Assistance Request Form

Once again, we want to stress the importance of completing Data Verification by June 2, 2022.

We appreciate your attention to this important matter and thank you for taking the time to register your child in Northside.

If you have any questions or need any assistance completing the NISD Data Verification, please contact our campus Attendance Secretary, Mrs. O'Connor at 210-397-0800.

What to do when your child is sick

If you find that your child has any Covid-like symptoms, please keep them home and contact our school nurse as soon as possible to go over options. The school nurse can be contacted by phone at 210-397-0800 as early as 7:45 AM Monday-Friday. If she is busy serving another member of our community at the time of your call please leave her a message and she will get back to you as soon as possible.

If someone in your home has tested positive for Covid-19, or if your child has been exposed to Covid-19 please keep your child home and contact the school nurse for further guidance.

We thank you for your support in these matters and for your patience as our school nurses are working hard to keep all of our students healthy and helping them to return to school as quickly as possible.
