Weekly Update
Congratulations to all of our students for a successful year
I wish everyone a safe and happy summer.
Dear Trumbauersville Community,
Last week was a highlight of the spring. As was noted from the beginning of the transition to our virtual setting, we were continually going to work to improve our virtual experience and we were going to crawl, then walk, then run. I can say with confidence that last week saw our teachers and students sprinting to the finish of a very atypical school year. Our community was seamlessly navigating online meeting platforms for our academic classes, for lunch bunches with friends, for fun end of year events with classes, for our virtual awards ceremony, for our special spotlight of our 5th grade students, and even for informational meetings about the Sixth Grade Center.
At this point, our students are transitioning into their summer routines and our staff is finishing what was a very atypical spring. I am very proud of our school staff and the way in which they rose to the occasion to support our community and to connect with our students during our virtual environment. In lieu of being able to distribute paper copies of our end of year awards, we will share a google folder containing digital versions of the awards. Mrs. Haslet will share those with students today. So check your @qcsdstu.org email for those folders.
Even though the academic calendar comes to an end this week, there continues to be work throughout the summer. This includes training and professional development, maintenance projects, finalizing scheduling and preparations for the 2021 school year, etc. Over the summer, QCSD will continue to follow the Governor’s guidelines for telework. While Mrs. Haslett and I will not be in the school building often, we will be working diligently to maintain the effective organization of our school and to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. We can always be reached via email and receive voice messages on our school phone line.
As all know, the logistics for the start of the school year is still largely to be determined. As Dr. Harner mentioned in his most recent blog post, there will be another survey coming out to the QCSD community asking families to identify the mode of instruction that they prefer in the fall. Please keep an eye out for this survey.
As a school, we will continue to share relevant information as it is available. I wish everyone a safe and happy summer.

As the school year slowly winds down and we begin to transition into summer, my hope is that you are able to find some time to relax and enjoy some quiet moments of reflection with your family. While this school year has been unlike any other in so many ways, it is still similar in that we continue to celebrate the perseverance and accomplishments of our students. We thank you for all of your hard work during these past 13 weeks of distance learning and challenge you to continue to promote and inspire your child(ren) to continue learning throughout the summer months. Don't forget to take some time for yourselves as well, you deserve it!
Please reference the article below for some fun ideas to continue teaching social-emotional learning over the summer months and as always, do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns about the social-emotional health of your child over the summer. Thank you all, have a wonderful summer!

If you child is interested in learning an instrument
We now have resources available online for those students and families who could not attend any of the day time live shows nor the evening live show.
Families who visit www.qcsd.org/music will now find a Learn To Play a Musical Instrument webpage. This webpage provides resources for students to learn about being in the band and being in the orchestra. The webpage also provides ways for students to explore the different types of musical instruments they can start learning next year at QCSD. This resource is designed looking to listen to specific musical instruments from our live presentations one more time, and it can help students who were not able to attend our live presentations explore musicals instruments on their own time. Families can use the Contact Our Teachers web page to find the band and orchestra teachers in their school for more information and next steps.
