Explore and Expand Summer Learning Opportunity!
Explore and Expand Summer Learning
The Learning Recovery team along with the elementary administrators and teachers are hard at work planning the Explore and Expand Summer Learning Program for rising 1st through 4th graders! This four-week long program is designed to support student learning by bolstering school-year skills and helping to fight Summer Learning Loss. Students will receive 1.5 hours of academic support from ConVal Certified Teachers and Tutors. An additional hour of the program is reserved for enrichment exploration, including drumming and cartooning. Explore and Expand is free of charge, and registration is open to all. As we anticipate great demand, enrollment will be prioritized based on need, working in partnership with schools to ensure that students who most need this support will be able to participate.

NEWS FROM PRINCIPAL ROY
Happy Friday!
Dear Greenfield Families and Friends,
Thank you to everyone who supported our readers during the GES Read-a-thon Fundraiser! GES readers logged 6,748 minutes reading and raised $1,556 thanks to your generosity! We enjoyed visits from community members this week who read favorite books with classes. Students enjoyed story time with Officer Frank Shea, Volunteer Extraordinaire Mrs. Carele Mayer, Mr. & Mrs. Sysyn, Stephenson Memorial Librarian Brighid Wood, ConVal School Board Representative Katherine Heck, our Custodian Mr. Chris Gagnon and our Nurse, Mrs. Pitt. Great job everyone! Keep reading!
The ConVal School Board has confirmed the last day of school for students and staff as Friday, June 17th. It will be a half day for students, with dismissal at noon.

GIRLS ON THE RUN:
GES is excited to offer the Girls On The Run program for our 3rd and 4th grade girls this year! If you have not signed your daughter up, please do so soon. We need at least 8 girls to host a team this year! Any Greenfield girl in grades 3-5 is welcome to join the team. You can find more information about the program here: https://www.girlsontherunnh.org/
COVID-19 Update:
While it appears that COVID infections are slowing and we are seeing fewer positive cases, it is still important for families to monitor children for ANY symptoms and to keep symptomatic children home until they can be tested. If your child presents with ANY of the following symptoms please keep them home and call the school and schedule a rapid test.
- Headache
- Muscle pain or aches
- Sore or scratchy throat
- Cough
- Congestion or runny nose
- Fever or chills
- Fatigue
- Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting
- Loss of smell or taste
The ConVal District updated its guidance on Tuesday 3/1/22 and has moved to make masking optional for students and staff and will no longer be contact tracing per CDC recommendations.
If your child has been fully vaccinated, please send a photo or copy of the vaccination card to our school nurse, Alaina Slocomb at aslocomb@conval.edu for our school records. Per the updated guidance, anyone who is fully vaccinated does not need to quarantine if a close household contact tests positive for COVID-19, as long as they are asymptomatic.
Winter/Spring Weather and Outdoor Play:
The fickle nature of the weather in the spring makes for some interesting conditions on our playground! We can have 6 inches of snow one day and a muddy mess the next. We do go outside for recess every day unless it is dangerously cold or raining. As long as the "real feel" temperature outside is above 10 degrees, we will be outside at recess! Please be sure to send in appropriate winter gear for your child. This includes, snow pants, boots, jacket, gloves and a hat. You are welcome to have your child keep their gear here at school if you have an extra set. While we do have some extra gear, we are running low on gloves and mittens. If you are cleaning out used gear and happen to have any extra gloves or mittens, we will happily take them to restock our supply of extras here at GES!
Pick-Up Patrol:
It is important that you check and update your children's after school pick up plans in Pick Up Patrol each day, especially if they have plans that may change on a daily basis. We will follow the plans that are entered in Pick Up Patrol. It's your responsibility to make sure the plans are correct. Thank you for your help!
In case you missed the news, morning snack/breakfast and lunch are free for all ConVal students this year, however if your child gets only milk at either meal there is a charge of $0.50. Please be sure to add money to your child's lunch account to cover the cost of milk if needed.
