To Do List:
- 3 Goals & Self Assessment: Find these in the MDSD Staff Portal. Consider writing 1 goal to reflect on your previous year evaluation, 1 student achievement goal, and 1 goal that directly connects to the district goals. Turn these in after your team meeting or as soon as you have them ready (preferably by October 1st).
- Emergency Bags: They should now have your class demographics in them, a new battery in your flashlight, and be ready to go!
- MDHS Drama Club Sign Ups: Tuesday, Sept. 24th if you are interseted in hosting a play for your students in your classroom.
- Schedules: If you haven't yet saved your class/daily schedule into the eBinder / Staff Schedules, please do so ASAP. It works best if you save as a .pdf file.
- Uploading Photos: Get in the habit of uploading them to the eBinder 'photos' folder and deleting them from your phones. It works best to find the ebinder from your phone. Then, when it's open, click, 'upload a file' then find your photos, and click 'upload'. If you need help, please ask.
- OPTIONAL: Sign Up for Health Preventive Screening for September 26th. If you are scheduled with students, we have one roving sub who will cover for you long enough to go to the your screening.
- OPTIONAL: Interested in reading a book from home (or wherever) on a specific date from our PTA Facebook page? Sign here here if so.
Staff Notes:
- Sarah W. She is slowly having some better feeling days. Yippee! Her doctor is granting her a gradual return/test run. She is aiming to do 1-2 hours per day this week. Mrs. Hulbert will continue subbing until we know how the gradual return feels for Mrs. Warner. Just wanted to give you all a little bit of heads up if you wonder what's going on.
- Lock Your Classroom/Office Doors when you leave nightly. Custodians will open/re-loack them when they clean. We have a busy building after school hours and lots of wondering folks.
- Windows Closed: Please shut your windows when you leave at night as the weather has changed. This will prevent the heat from running all night long.
- STEM Grant Opportunities: I was asked to share this website with you all as there appears to be some STEM opportunities/grants available that you may want to consider. Don't forget to submit the district grant approval policy first if you wish to submit for anything. https://stem.idaho.gov/
- iStation Scores: There is much research in the importance of sharing scores with students and helping them goal set. There are so many great ideas online in how to manage and do this with your students on a regular basis. In addition to sharing scores with students and empowering them to set goals it is just as important to share results with parents too. Utilize some of the many tools in iStation if you are stuck.
- MAP Scores: Same as above...(with the Spring ISAT scores) is so important. Kids want to know how they did and want to know what they need to do or what the target is for them. Parents too! I'd love to hear what awesome ways you come up with in getting kids involved in their own data!
- Writing Prompt Idea: Check out your Into Reading prompt (performance task) at the end of each module. Do you have this? Could this become our 'writing prompt(s) for the year? I will check in with each team on this topic during team meetings in 2 weeks when we work on your annual goals/evaluation conversations.
- K-2 iPad Headphones: We have 60 NEW (that now fit) headphones for the 60 new iPads in K-2. I am planning to put these on the top of each of the two carts for K-2 to share/use; however, we need to ensure they are all available and with the iPads when it's iStation testing time.
- Classroom Teacher Reimbursements: Miss Jodi cannot reimburse anyone if purchases took place before July 1. Check your receipts and be sure they are after July 1.
- Half Day Subs/Time Off: Half day ends/starts at 11:30; so if you ever have subs/days off just note that it doesn't necessarily fit your schedule or lunch times; but rather has to be the standard 11:30 time. Please note this in your sub plans if you need half day subs.
- Field Trip Notes: Be sure to include specialists/special ed personnel on all field trips to ensure we are following IEP, meds, special notes on students. I will calendar bus requests to the team and include special ed staff once I get bus requests. Permission forms do not have to be done; however it is important you know/track any kids who can't attend, and pack with extra drinks, food, meds, etc for kids who may forget basics.
- Old Newsletters: I have links at the very bottom of this newsletter if you ever need to find old newsletters. The links also seem to work better for me to use on my mobile device. Just a tip.
- Sarah W's Meal Train, if you didn't get a chance to help during the first go around.
