About the athor
S.E. Hinton, was and still is, one of the most popular and best known writers of young adult fiction. Her books have been taught in some schools, and banned from others. Her novels changed the way people look at young adult literature. Susan Louise Hinton was was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She has always enjoyed reading but didn't like the way young adult literature was being written. That inspired her to become a writer. Her first book was The Outsiders. The outsiders got her a lot of publicity and fame and also a lot of presser. S.E. Hinton was becoming known as "The Voice of the Youth" among other titles. This kind of pressure and publicity resulted in a three year long writer's block. Her boyfriend at the time (now her husband) broke this block. He got tired of her always being depressed and made her write to pages a day. Because of that she wrote another book called That Was Then This Is Now.
