Hands & Hearts
Supporting & Serving StMCS thru Fundraising & Volunteering
Helping Hands: Event Requirements
The StMCS Home & School Association, our parent-teacher organization, has the mission to lead events that help generate both funds and fun each year.
Every school family is expected to be a participating member of the association by lending a hand and meeting the minimum expectation of working 2 events per year. However, opportunities for involvement extend far beyond this basic requirement.
Families have the ability to choose which events best match their interests and schedules. You can work 2 fundraisers, 2 fun events, or 1 of each. We often have need for additional help, so signing up for more than your required 2 events is encouraged & appreciated! Details on viewing events and signing up are listed below.
Commitments that go unmet will result in a fee of $500. We value your involvement and need “people power” to help make these events a success. It is our goal to have 100% participation and assess zero fees.
HANDS & HEARTS
MAKE StMCS a FAMILY
The spirit of St. Michael Catholic School is a direct result of family involvement and support! Our expectations for participation in fundraising and school events are designed to ensure that all families contribute to our success in a minimum of 2 ways while sharing in creating a
fun-filled, joyous community.
In addition to steadfast prayer, it takes
many hands and
generous hearts
to cultivate the spirit of our Catholic school.
To that end, we ask that every family "lends a hand"
by meeting the "Event Requirements" outlined on the left.
We are also in constant need of people to share their time by volunteering to help with various daily needs at school. See column on right,
"Heartfelt Help: Volunteering".
Heartfelt Help: Volunteering
Besides having "all hands on deck" for special events, we also need a number of volunteers each day at St. Michael Catholic School to share their time for the benefit of our students - the heart of our school.
Many volunteers are needed on a daily basis to help with a variety of tasks around school. Do you have an extra hour or two per week, month, or even year? StMCS needs you! We have opportunities in the kitchen, the cafeteria, in the staff workroom, and in classrooms.
We will use one tool, "SignUpGenius.com", for all school volunteer needs and event requirements. More details can be found below and if you have questions, you may contact:

FUNDRAISING
Fundraising is an important part of our annual revenue stream and it helps keep tuition affordable. Meeting our 2019-20 fundraising goal of $225,000 will save approximately 15% per student in tuition this year.
We operate in good faith that our goals will be met and we set our tuition with that savings already applied. Therefore, your help and participation becomes essential in order for us to succeed. Lending a hand by leading or working at fundraising events is needed and so is your enthusiastic participation! We will communicate our target goal for each event and keep you informed of our progress throughout the year.
Three key events that help us meet our fundraising goal are the annual Marathon (October), the Catholic Schools Raffle (winter), and Bids for Kids (spring), along with additional fun events. Our marathon is the first fundraising event of the year and comes quickly. Please see the reminder regarding the minimum requirement for every family.
Marathon Reminder
Our Catholic school marathon has been a tradition for over 40 years! It is a fun community event and is one of our simplest fundraisers. As noted on your registration, families are required to meet a monetary goal for our annual Marathon. Many do this with a spirit of friendly competition and work to exceed this requirement.
- The monetary commitment per family is $375 in marathon pledges and is expected to be met by the end of November 2019.
- Most families meet this goal through pledges, some use a company match and others pay it directly with a tax deductible donation.
- Unmet commitments will be invoiced and due upon receipt.
We are in need of a few more members of our leadership team. Please email Danise Dembouski today if you can help in this capacity! It will meet your first event requirement! Watch for more marathon details coming your way soon!
Essential 3 Volunteer Requirements
Whether completing your Event Commitment Requirements or volunteering in the school, all volunteers must complete the Archdiocesan mandated Essential 3 prior to volunteering at school and then renew every three years.
