August 2019
Welcome Back Lions!
This year we have several teachers joining us. Mrs. Barrington is joining Mrs. Wonacott teaching Kindergarten. Mrs. MacLean will be teaching TK-1st Grade SDC and Mrs. Moore will be teaching 2nd/3rd Grade SDC and Mr. Stein is joining the fifth grade team. All of them are extraordinary teachers, and we are so very fortunate that they are now LaVorgna Lions. Please help us in welcoming all our staff members to our Lion family!
We are looking forward to making this year exciting, engaging, and successful for all of our Lions.
Sincerely,
Lisa Brown and Erin Nielsen

PBIS: Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports
PBIS is a framework used to create:
- Pro-social student behavior
- Proactive discipline structure within a school
How does it help create a positive school culture?
PBIS uses:
- Predictable and common language, vision (understanding of expectations) and experiences
- Positive and regular recognition of positive behavior
- Safe environment where disruptive behavior is not tolerated
- Consistent expectations where all adults use the same expectations
Every month, each classroom teacher will teach a behavior standard and the expectations for locations throughout the school site for the targeted behavior. The goal is to explicitly teach our students the shared expectations we have for them when they are on campus. This allows for us, as a site, to have common language for behavior and locations expectations. It also allows for staff on campus to have the same expectations and language when we are re-teaching or correcting an undesired behavior.
