Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
September 27, 2018
Dear Parents,
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." This Friday we will celebrate September's Community Homeroom. We will unveil our new ARK initiative....A Random Act of Kindness. As we focus on the virtue of kindness this year at school, our teachers and students will be encouraged to recognize random acts of kindness done by others. There will be an ark on display in the school hallway. Whenever a teacher, student, staff member, etc. witnesses an act of kindness, they write the name of that person on a ticket and place it in the ark. Each month at Community Homeroom, names will be drawn from the Ark and those students will be recognized.
Below I have posted two photos. The first photo shows what students want to learn this year in first grade. The second photo shows what their parents want them to learn in first grade this year. Many of the student answers focused on the academic areas, while most of the parent answers were more faith-based and focused on values. The ARK initiative is designed to help promote the values and morals that we as Catholics have at the center of our faith.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God’s Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
Principal

Box Tops for Education
Contest Details
Our Box Top contest for this year will be unveiled at September's Community Homeroom tomorrow. As a reminder, in order to qualify for the contest your child's box tops must be glued to a collection sheet and not contain expired box tops. The General Mills Corporation that organizes the Box Top Program has processing guidelines that need to be followed in order to receive monetary credit. Use of collection sheets greatly aides us in the processing task. However, we do not want to discourage the submission of loose box tops. If you do not want to participate in the contest, please continue to collect and send the box tops in a plastic bag or envelope.
Each box top is worth ten cents. Our school received over $1600.00 from Box Tops last year. Thank you for supporting this very important fundraiser!
Collection Sheets
Each sheet is worth 25 box tops. In order to receive credit for Box Tops that your child(ren) want to bring back into school, your child’s name, grade & homeroom needs to be visibly written on the Box Tops sheet. There are times when BONUS points or certificates are issued. Please affix those on a separate sheet of paper and don’t forget to write your child’s name on the sheet.

Coca-Cola Give Program
Here is another way to earn free cash for our school! The Coca -Cola Give Program provides us an opportunity to raise funds for our various school initiatives by simply collecting codes off of beverage bottles and other Coca-Cola products. There are three simple ways to provide/enter your product codes:
1. Send your beverage bottle caps into school and we will enter the code.
2. Enter the bottle code into our school portal on the Coca-Cola Website if you don't wish to send in the bottle caps to school.
3. Sign-up on the Coca-Cola Website and then download the app. Select our school and snap a pic of the code.
OLGC School will receive a check quarterly & this Program would be another great way to earn money for our school!
