November Music Room News

In Music Class, we have been working on keeping a steady beat using our “magic drum” and drumsticks. We like to put on some of our favorite songs and have drum solos. Some songs and rhymes we are working on right now include “Johnny on the Woodpile,” “5 Little Ladies” and “Two LIttle Blackbirds.”

First and Second Grade

First and Second graders have been working on the songs “Long legged sailor,” “Lucy Rabbit” and “Epo i tai tai e.” Ask your child to share one with you!

Third and Fourth Graders

Third and Fourth Grade students have been working on reading music, and are now expert music readers! Third graders will begin recorders this month. We have also begun working on our music for “Pirates of Penzance.”

Fifth and Sixth Graders

Sixth graders have been learning all about musical theatre and broadway. Fifth graders have been learning all about rock bands and rock history. Both classes are beginning to put together their own Holiday Production coming up on December 19th.

Ms. Mader would like to thank Sawyer, Hannah, Lily, Shyann, Maggie and Bryce for auditioning for the District Music Festival. They all worked very hard and made Lothrop proud! We are patiently awaiting the results!

We are very excited for our upcoming performance at the Killington Grand Resort on Friday, December 1st. See you there!

Rock Climbing Team

Lothrop Rock Climbing Team Meeting

Tuesday, December 12 from 5:30-6:30 at the Maclure library

The Lothrop Rock Climbing Team is about to start it's 5th year in December. Last year the Rock Climbing Team had 16 students sign up. In order to reduce the cost of the student membership we did fundraising. This year we are asking local businesses to sponsor our team in the hopes of bringing down the membership cost again. We already have 3 sponsors Pittsford Automotive Center, Bertrand Farms and Bissette Construction. We will also be selling Dunkin Donuts coupon books. Students wanting to join the team and take advantage of any discounts the fundraising offers, must commit to attending at least one team practice per month and participating in one team meet for the season. Please contact Margaret Daly 282-6079 or Kelly Connaughton 770-4767 with questions on our team.
