From Mr. Clemente

After a successful first week of marching band camp, we're looking forward to continuing to improve and expand upon that hard work this coming week (and hopefully cooperative weather!)!

Thank you to all the parents, siblings, and alumni who have come back to volunteer during lunch for the students! We still need volunteers to help with lunches this week and dinner on Thursday before the Preview Performance. If you are able to volunteer, please see below for instructions to sign-up for a volunteer slot on Charms.

Parents, please make not of Thursday evening's Mandatory Band Booster Meeting. During this meeting, the parent volunteers on the Band Booster Board will present a wealth of information for this coming year, and will present an opportunity for you to ask questions. The meeting will wrap up with plenty of time for you to move over to our preview performance at either D-Lot or the Auditorium, weather dependent. In addition, please sign into your Charms account prior to the meeting on Thursday evening to familiarize yourself with the site. Lots of questions you may have could be answered simply by looking around and exploring the features of Charms, or perhaps it will bring to mind new questions to pose at the meeting.

Students will receive their 2019 Show Shirt on Thursday during dinner. The remainder of the uniform for Thursday's performance includes khaki/tan colored shorts, a belt, and athletic shoes (the same shoes that students have been wearing during rehearsals this past week). Students should bring their entire uniform, except for the Show Shirt, to marching band camp on Thursday morning to ensure that no parts are forgotten. We will be taking extra time during dinner to allow for the students to change.

Extra Show Shirt orders will be available for pickup at the Mandatory Band Booster Meeting on Thursday.

BAND BOOSTER PRESIDENT MESSAGE

Parents of new and returning students, please update your Additions approval. It doesn’t take long, you must be approved each year, and you MUST be Additions approved to chaperone for all band functions. Please plan to attend the band booster meeting on August 8 at 5:30 in the band room- it is right before the preview show (which starts at 7:00 p.m.) We look forward to seeing you there and sharing a lot of important information about the upcoming year. Please bring your calendars, and if you are thinking of driving for the Door-to-Door Fundraiser on February 1, please bring copies of your drivers’ license and current insurance to the meeting. Drivers are assigned on a first-come first-served basis. A share of fundraising credit can be earned by being a driver.

VOLUNTEERS-Thank you for all of the help this week at band camp lunch!! If you can help with lunch or dinner (Thursday) for marching band camp the week of August 4, or if you can help distribute show shirts on Thursday, August 8, please sign up on Charms. On the date(s) you can volunteer, click on the picture of the hand, and the volunteer slots will come up. For band meals, you may also just report to the cafeteria at 11:30 to help if you can come last minute.

We can’t wait to see you! It is going to be a fantastic year for WPHS Band!

UNIFORM IRONING HELP NEEDED!

We are looking for volunteers to press all the uniforms that have been fitted and assigned. Please bring your ironing boards and irons to the 600 building hallway (band room hallway) during the marching camp hours from Monday through Friday. Contact Mary Bernard with any questions at lombernard@gmail.com.

BAND CAMP LUNCH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The Band is looking for volunteers to help serve our Band Camp Meals. Lunch is served at 12:00 PM each day of camp, so volunteers would need to be available from 11:30 AM for setup until about 1:00 PM when cleanup is finished. If you are interested, please contact Melanie Dressler directly at melaniefdressler@yahoo.com.
