Kawerau Pūtauaki School
Newsletter 18th March 2021
Let's catch up!
Our future leaders completed their week long Water Safety Course, we had a team of swimmers compete in the Inter Schools Swimming Sports. Tag has started in Whakatāne on a Wednesday, as well as Saturday Netball in Whakatāne for our Year 5 and 6 team, and we have a team in the Top School Competition on Sunday!
We can't forget the Senior School have started their Passion Projects this week.
Our biggest change this week is the addition of another classroom in our Junior School, with our Year 3 students moving to a new classroom - Ngā Pihinga Tāpiri with their teacher Sharon Cashell.
The roll in our Junior School is growing fast, we needed to have a shuffle to keep our class numbers at the right level - so we have created anew learning space, so now have 5 Junior classes.
Luckily for us all - we get a five day holiday for Easter. School will be closed from Friday 2nd April - Tuesday 6th April.
Hinemoa Water Safety Programme
A group of Ngā Hua Ngāruru, Rūmaki and Ngā Puāwai students took part in the Hinemoa Water Safety programme run by the Waiariki Pūrea Trust in Rotorua.
Our students were fortunate enough to travel around the Waiariki rohe and participate and demonstrate their new found water safety learning.
In the up and coming weeks our students will be using some of the skills and footage collected from this week’s learning to create resources for our tamariki at school.
Ngā Puāwai, Ngā Huangāruru, Rūmaki kaiako and whānau would like to thank Matua Neihana and Whaea Ripeka for sharing and working with our kura and sharing their amazing skill base, history and knowledge with our tamariki.
Last but not least Kawerau Pūtauaki School would also like to thank the Waiariki Pūrea Trust for this awesome opportunity.
Notices will be out next week for our competitors.
