PAS Earns WASC Accreditation

We are excited to announce that Piedmont Adult School has been granted full accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). This accreditation validates the strength of our programs, and provides a strong foundation for future growth. WASC accreditation is particularly important for our High School Diploma students, as it increases the value and recognition of a PAS diploma. We look forward to building on the strengths and goals established through this rigorous accreditation process.

Congrats to our New Grads!

It takes drive and commitment to earn a high school diploma as an adult. We are very proud of all our graduates, who achieved this important milestone while juggling work, family, and other obligations. Congratulations! We can't wait to see where you go from here.

Spotlight on .... Sameerah Karim

Sameerah dropped out of high school her sophomore year to take care of her baby full-time. She eventually earned a certificate in medical insurance billing and coding, but soon realized that many jobs in this field require a high school diploma or equivalent. She took the GED but did not receive an equivalency.

Undeterred, Sameerah started taking general studies classes part-time at community college, while continuing to work. She set her sights on the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) at Merritt College. Entry to this program requires a high school degree or GED equivalency.

Sameerah contacted Piedmont Adult School and found out she only had to complete a few additional courses to earn her high school diploma, because she could receive credit for her community college courses, as well as the portion of the GED that she passed.

She received her high school diploma in February, and is now completing the courses for her Associate degree.

After receiving her Associate degree, Sameerah hopes to go on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her ultimate goal is to work abroad. “I would like to help people all over the world if possible,” she says.
