Message from the Principal
Greetings Sageland Learning Community,
Wishing all our Scottie Mom's a Happy Mother's Day! Hope you enjoyed this beautiful Sunday!
On behalf of all our amazing teachers, thank you for recognizing them with special gifts throughout their week of celebration. We are truly blessed to have them lead our Scotties!
As we prepare for STAAR this coming week, please ensure that you read the STAAR letter that will be sent out to parents on Monday, May 9th. In helping us maintain a secure testing environment, we ask our 3rd-6th grade students to keep their backpacks and cell phones at home during testing days.
We ask our parents to ensure that students go to bed early the day before testing, that students eat a healthy breakfast, and parents encourage and motivate their child to reduce test anxiety!

We are starting to build our classes for next year, please ensure that you register your child so that they can be scheduled in a class roster. Our Online Registration began on April 1st and we still have about 180 students not registered. Please secure your child’s spot by registering this week. Our Online Registration challenge continues this week. The top 5 classes with 100% registration will earn a pizza party! For more information, you may reach our attendance clerk, Cynthia Rede @CRede1@yisd.net or call at (915)434-2910. Registration link: mystudentonlineregistration.
We ask that you continue helping us follow our COVID-19 safety protocols by reminding your child the following practices:
Social Distance (3ft-6ft) to the greatest extent possible
Highly encourage face masks-Keep reminding your child to wear them properly covering their mouth and nose.
Hand sanitizing and hand washing
If you are not sure about sending your child to school due to them being ill or questions about possible exposures, please contact our school nurse for further direction (915)434-2911 or email ytorres5@yisd.net.
Remote Conferencing Support:
Students may qualify for Remote Conferencing Support if they fall under one of the three criteria:
Actively sick (symptoms) with COVID-19 (test confirmed)
Test-confirmed with COVID-19 but no symptoms
Suspected of being actively sick with COVID (pending test results)
If your child meets any of the above criteria, the school nurse is the only person that can place a child in remote learning. If a child is placed in remote learning, you will receive a call from our school personnel informing you of the procedures to follow to get your child logged into our remote learning Google Classroom.
Our Math Bee Competitions will continue each week in our PK to 6th grade classrooms. Please continue practicing basic math facts with your child.
