Flipped Classroom with EDpuzzle

Professional Development

What is a flipped classroom?

The idea of a flipped classroom inverts the traditional teaching methods, delivering instruction online and outside of school and moving “homework” into the classroom. In a flipped classroom model students watch lectures at home at their own pace, communicating with teachers and peers in online discussions. Concept engagement takes place in the classroom with the help of the teacher.

What are the advantages to a flipped classroom?

- maximize the amount of time students spend involved in inquiry practices, problem solving, and project based learning

- teacher can meet with small groups to help students struggling on specific topics

- students can move through videos at their own pace

- students can become the teacher and begin to create videos to educate their peers
