PTO Requests and Teacher Wish Lists
Please see the two attachments to this email:
- PTO teacher requests - Due to me by May 15th.
- Teacher Wish Lists - Due to me by May 15th.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
1. With the unknowns with our current situation, the PTO and the district are making sure that we are conservative with all purchases going forward. The money coming in this year to PTO was less than in previous years and there is some worry that the Fun Run next year will not bring in the money that we have seen before due to economy concerns. I do not have my budget yet, but it is important to keep in mind that things might have to look different this next year.
2. I do not have access to purchase anything at this time through purchase orders and all credit cards have been shut off. Even when we are allowed to do this, they might not be able to be ordered until after school gets started in the Fall. We will get things ordered as soon as we can once approved.
All of the information above is provided to you because I want to be as transparent as possible. By no means do I want you to not request materials and resources that you need for your classroom. Our students will not go without resources that are needed, we just have to be conscientious about the current situation. We have an amazing PTO and I will do my best to also honor your requests. We will figure it out!
PD Opportunities
Feel free to check out the PD opportunities that are available at the following link:
CLP Website
All information on the CLP site will remain up and active through the summer for parents to use if they like.
Next Year's Review of Standards
Several of you have asked about working the grade level below about standards missed this quarter in preparation for next year. Learning Services is working on this and will have information for staff at some point before next year begins, but I don’t know what it is going to look like for sure. There will have to be some modifications however I don’t know if that will look like a modified pacing guide or what. While I don’t think it hurts for your PLCs to have this conversation, I would hate for you to do too much detailed planning not knowing what the district will be providing or directing teachers to do.
School Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) Unit
During the first 4 days of operating the School Mobile Integrated Health Unit in partnership with nurses from Olathe Schools and the Olathe Fire Department, the teams visited 50 families reaching 70 students. They utilized telehealth for 32 visits and made 21 home visits (some families required both). The visits varied widely including minor nursing care, resource connection, hygiene kit delivery, IT assistance for an iPAD and food pantry assistance. Thank you to all who are working to keep school children healthy and safe during this time. If you have specific families that administration, teachers, or nurses have not heard from and are afraid they are needing help, please contact Sharon Morris and she can start a referral for the team to go make a home visit and support their needs!
Summer Building Use (Including Summer School)
As you probably heard, the SAH order has been extended to May 10th in Johnson County. I know that the school district is working on a tentative plan to allow staff back in the building to pack up student belongings and have a short time to close up their room for summer. This is all contingent on the SAH order getting lifted at some point. When these plans are finalized, I will send it out to you.
Graphic Communications Department News
The department is checking emails regularly and assisting as they can. There’s a skeleton crew coming in to the shop to run the machines but only for Continuous Learning packets or COVID-19 communication needs. We will not start accepting quick turnaround requests until Johnson County lifts the stay-at-home order and I have permission to expand our team again.
Each year, we ask for the schools to get their 1st quarter print requests in before they leave for summer break. That is not changing. Please encourage your teams to access Digital StoreFront through the ozone and enter their orders for August. To order in advance, enter a due date of August 3rd. We will invoice all August 3rd due dates from the 2020-21 accounts
Pink/Blue Cards and Groupings for Next Year
I am going to hold off on having you complete the pink and blue cards. We will have the opportunity to do so when we get back into the schools and get the data we need.
- At this time, I am going to place blank class list forms in your grade level Teams in the folder labeled, "2020-2021 Class Lists". You will have the number of class list forms that match the number of sections for the next grade level.
- Along with this, you will find an excel sheet that I would like for you to fill out if you for input purposes:
1. Are placing a particular student with another for a certain reason
2. Are separating a student from other students
3. Have specific requests that you are aware of from parents
4. Student has any needs that you need to share: IEP, 504, Evaluation, MTSS, etc.
A big thank you to Andrea as she dropped all of your students for the grade level into this file, so you will go to the child and then fill out the column that pertains to them. You are only filling this out for students that meet one of the criteria above.
I will pull the class lists and this input form when I start forming the classes for next year.

Interventions on Synergy
Please make sure that you are putting this on synergy when you begin and then update this when you complete it. This should be done for any behavior or academic interventions. Please do the best that you can with the information that you have at home. You can always update these when we have access to the classroom. Please feel free to add a statement explaining that due to school being cut short because of COVID-19, the last day of the intervention was ______.
#OlatheSpirit for the Week of 5/4
Some schools are doing something like this weekly. I will be adding this to my twitter, but feel free to add this to your SeeSaw as well if you would like to!
Thanks!
