How the Internet works

What is the internet?
The internet is made up of millions of networks to form the Inter-Network. A large part of the internet is the world wide web (WWW). This is a makeup of different webpages and sites. It also includes instant messaging, chat rooms, email, file transfers, peer to peer networks and forums. No one owns the internet as it is just a makeup of everyone's separate networks that have been linked to the internet.
The world wide web or just 'the web' is part of the internet but younger. The internet is about 40 years while the WWW is around 20. The world wide web is made up of millions apon millions of webpages. it is all organised on to websitees and each page is made up of text, multimedia such as video and sound
