Middle School Model UN General Assembly
Friday, April 3, 2020
Eighth Grade students will travel to the Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois, on
Wednesday, April 22, 2020. We will travel to several historic sites in Springfield, Illinois on a coach bus and enjoy a buffet pizza lunch at Pizza Lunch. Several chaperones are needed for the trip. Please read the form carefully to sign up to be a volunteer. This trip will be an all-day trip. We will board the bus at 7 a.m. and return around 6 p.m.
The permission slip and fees are due on Friday, March 27, 2020.

EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE OF THE HARLEM RENAISSANCE
Students presented their research on their assigned extraordinary person and displayed their work in the Hixson hallways.
Students gave and received peer feedback on their presentations.
LIVING AMENDMENTS PBL
Students began planning our next PBL.
The driving question is Why is it important to have a contemporary understanding of the Constitution and its amendments?

NHD
Thank you for your support and encouragement for the National History Day (NHD) Regional Competition at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). The Gifted Social Studies competed with students from the region’s middle schools.
We have ten students who have the opportunity to represent Missouri’s Region 5 and Hixson Middle School at the National History Day state competition at the University of Missouri-Columbia on Saturday, April 25, 2020. Congratulations to the following students:
