Chemical Reaction
It is when a substance is changed into a new one that has a different chemical identity.
Reaction of iron with sulfur
Iron + Sulfer -> Iron Sulphide
Fe + S ---> FeS
Synthesis Reaction
The Iron and Sulfur react when heated and makes a flame. When heated the mixture turns red and hardens. When it start to cool everything is hardened.
Synthesis Reaction
In a synthesis reaction two or more chemicals combine to form a more complex product.
A + B --> AB
Sodium and Water in a 40 gallon trash can
Sodium and Water
Sodium + Water ---> Sodium hydroxide (Explosion)
2Na(s) + 2H2O(l) ----> 2NaOH(aq) + H2(g)
Single-Replacement Reaction
The water in the trash can reacts with the sodium making an explosion.
Single-Replacement Reaction
When one element replaces another element in a compound.
A+BC-->AC+B
KMnO4 + H2SO4 makes fire
Potassium permanganate + Sulfuric acid ---> make Fire
4KMnO4 (aq) + 6H2SO4 (aq) ---> 2K2SO4 (aq) + 4MnSO4 (aq) + 6H2O (l) + 5O2 (g)
Combustion Reaction
A flame is created.
Combustion Reaction
A combustion reaction is when all parts of a compound are combined with oxygen to produces carbon dioxide and water.
CHO+O2-->H2O+CO2
