December 5-8, Watch Parkland's Scholastic Scrimmage team successfully battle Freedom on WLVT Channel 39! Air times are: Fri. 12/5 at 8 PM, Sat 12/6 at 10 AM, Sun 12/7 at 11 AM and Mon 12/8 at 5:30 PM.

December 5, Middle School Orchestra Winter Concert at PHS 7:00 PM

December 8, Orefield Middle School Band Winter Concert at PHS 7:00 PM

December 9, Heroes and Helpers Event, Target Allentown, 1600 N. Cedar Crest Boulevard Allentown, PA 18104, 9:45 AM. South Whitehall Township Police Department, Upper Macungie Police Department and Target will help children from Parkland School District to purchase holiday gifts for their families. During the in-store shopping event, the children are paired with Police officers who will help in picking out holiday gifts for the kids’ families. The Heroes & Helpers program fosters strong community relationships by pairing public safety officials with local youth to shop for the children's families during the holidays. Immediately following the shopping event at Target, students and their heroes will be going to the South Whitehall Township Municipal Building for gift wrapping, light refreshments and a visit from Mr.and Mrs. Claus.

December 10, PHS Gift Donations for Children in Foster Care, 3 PM. The Northampton County CYF Division will send a van to the school to load up all of the gifts that have been collected for kids in foster care. There was a lot of student involvement this year, and some clubs will help load the gifts onto the van.

December 11, Parkland Senior Citizen Holiday Dinner #1, 5:30 PM.

December 11, Parkland High School Band/9th & 10th Grade Chorus Winter Concert 7:00 PM.

December 13, Ironton First Annual Holiday Open House, 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM. The event will include a Pancake Breakfast and Holiday Shop complete with gift wrapping.

December 13 and 20 - Parkland High School Performing Arts Club Children’s Theatre Workshop 9:00 AM & 12:30 PM at PHS Auditorium.

December 14, PHS Chorale Winter Concert at Neffs UCC, 7:00 PM.

December 18, Parkland Senior Citizen Holiday Dinner #2, 5:30 PM.

December 18, Parkland High School Orchestra/11th & 12th Grade Chorus/Chorale Winter Concert 7:00 PM.

Mrs. Debra Reilly, String Specialist/Orchestra Director at both Springhouse & Orefield Middle Schools, is one of ten finalists for a Grammy Award! The GRAMMY Foundation® and The Recording Academy® have partnered to present the Music Educator Award™, to recognize music educators for their contributions to our musical landscape. Her name and picture were announced on CBS News which can be viewed here: The winner will be announced LIVE during the Grammy Awards on January 26, 2015.

PHS Music Production “Parkland: A Season for Giving 2014” Music CD This year marks the Parkland High School’s Music Production class’s 9th annual holiday CD. The CD features more than 40 Parkland students who have produced and/or performed 13 stylistically diverse tracks, from classical to rock to pop to electronica and more. The CD’s are $10 and include covers of well-loved holiday classics and two original songs. Fifth Grade at Ironton Elementary STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Math) project

Students had the challenge of building a rover out of K'Nex to land on a planet or space body of their choice. The rover had to overcome one obstacle that was a condition of the planet researched. Students also had to make the rover as cost efficient as possible (each piece has a unit price).

This year's Foundation Holiday Staff Tribute Card was designed by Eva Roy, a 5th grade student in Nancy Nahrgang's art class at Kernsville Elementary School.
