A Message from Mrs. Thompson

Good afternoon,

We have had a wonderful week at Bush! We celebrated 2/22/22 with a school wide dance party at 2:22, we celebrated our "You Rock" Award winners, and today we have Movie Night at Mitchell Intermediate. We look forward to seeing our Bobcat families there!

I get excited looking at the calendar and seeing all the amazing things that we have planned for the next few weeks. We are looking forward to our 4th grade field trip, Science Night, Book Fair, Kindergarten rodeo and Spring Break! I am so grateful that we can be together for these events and provide experiences for our students.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Thompson

Find It Fridays!

All lost & found items are always located in the front office lobby area. Please encourage your children to take a look if they are missing any items.

Starting today and each Friday we will bring the items outside to the front porch area. Please take a look at drop off and pick up for missing items. Please remember to label all items clearly with your child’s name. Also don’t forget to label water bottles, backpacks, and any other personal items. All items not claimed by spring break (March 11th) will be donated.

Our SPRING BOOK FAIR is COMING!

Sales are Monday, March 7th – Thursday, March 10th. Students can shop during the school day. Parents can come with their children after school from dismissal to 4:00pm each day. Parents are welcome to visit during STEM Night as well – Tuesday, March 8th from 5:30-7:00.

You can also shop online. All book orders are shipped to your home for free (with a $25 minimum order). For more information on setting up an eWallet for your student please visit Bush Elementary Book Fair homepage: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/barbarabushes. Please make checks out to Barbara Bush Elementary School (include your driver’s license # and date of birth). Don’t forget to add 8.25% sales tax! Any returned checks will be charged $30.00.

STEM Night

For this year's Science (STEM) Night and Book fair we are asking families to:

  1. Enter and exit the door designated for your child's grade level. If you have students in multiple grade levels, pick one to enter and exit through.
  2. Stay together. The teachers are focused on the experiments and they are not able to help with "crowd control".
  3. Rotate the building in a clockwise manner. Go with the flow of traffic.

This is such a fun event and we are excited to be able to have it again this year!

We continue to need help shelving books through the end of the year. If you have some availability, please check out the sign up!

CARLINE & MOVEABLE MINUTES

We are in need of volunteers to assist with our morning Car Line and Moveable Minutes. Carline is from 7:30-8:00 and you can simply report to the front ramp and assist.

Bush Substitutes Wanted

We love all the substitutes that work at Bush. Many of our Bush parents enjoy to serve in this role, and we love to have our parents at our school. If you would like to apply to be a substitute for CISD, you can apply here. In case you weren’t aware, you can register at specific schools. For example, if you have a student at Bush, one at Mitchell and one at McCullough, you can sign up to sub at just those three schools. We hope to see you on our substitute list very soon. If you have any questions please contact the CISD substitute office at 936-709-7859.

Lunch Visitor Sign-Up

With limited space in the cafeteria, we will continue to have visitors and students enjoy lunch outside under the canopy behind the second grade hallway. Please use the links below to sign up to eat lunch with your child outside. Please arrive at school a few minutes before your students lunch time. You do not need to come into the front office. You can simply wait out on the front porch. At that start of your students lunch a staff member will meet you out front and walk you outside and around the building to the picnic area. Once your lunch time is complete you will walk back to the front of the building. There is no need to check out in the front office.

Can Your Business Help?

We are so excited to be planning our Bobcat Bonanza to be held April 22nd (with a rain date of April 29th). This community event serves as our spring fundraiser which includes a BBQ or Pizza dinner, games, inflatables, a DJ, children's raffle, and our silent auction! This silent auction serves as a fun event for parents as well as a great way to earn money for some of our school programs.

If you have a business, you own or work for and would like to donate an item for our silent auction, we would love to represent your business on our silent auction table. In turn, if you would prefer to simply as a sponsor of the event, we would still recognize your business! Attached is our Donation/Sponsorship letter which shows our different levels of sponsorship and what kind of advertising we will offer in return to help promote your business. Also, families are always welcome to donate auction items as well if interested.

This is in no way meant to feel like an obligation. We just wanted to share the invitation in case anyone is interested. Please reach out to Caitlin Reeves at president@bushpto.com if you have any questions.

Thank you!
