HES Shark Scoop
March 24, 2023
From Principal Cutone
Dear HES Families,
It was another great week at HES, punctuated with a Tuesday morning All Shark Meeting. With the social-emotional theme of responsibility, our student ambassadors used our green screen and Chatterpix software to create interesting videos to show what responsibility looks like in classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, bathrooms, and on the buses. Under the direction of Ms. Riley, Ms. Krystofolski’s class led our school song, and we read the book “Don’t Spill the Milk” by Stephen Davies and Christopher Corr. To celebrate the hard work of all of our sharks’ respectful, responsible behavior, we had an impromptu dance party! Our monthly All Shark Meetings are truly joyful opportunities for us to unite as a school community.
Our spring schedule is quickly filling up with end-of-the-year activities, including field trips and assemblies. Next Wednesday, March 30th, MRHS is welcoming grades 2-4 for their Pops Concert. A field trip permission form has gone home with these students, and we ask that caregivers return this form to their classroom teacher on Monday, March 27th.
On April 4th, we are honored to welcome Massachusetts Commissioner of Education, Jeffrey C. Riley, to HES to show all the work we are doing with social and emotional learning. This month’s student ambassadors will have the opportunity to share their projects and to discuss their experiences in leading our community.
As many of you know, MCAS testing is coming up, and our 3rd and 4th grade students will be taking the exam on multiple days throughout April and May. Our teachers are preparing our students by helping them to explore the testing platform and its tools. Students are also learning about the different types of questions and taking practice tests. We are excited for our Sharks to show what they know. Remember, MCAS is just one piece of data that reflects the academic growth of our Harwich Elementary community.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. Here’s to all the beautiful signs of spring!
Warm regards,
Christie
Atenciosamente, Christie
