Rally for the Jimmy Fund 2016
FISHER'S FINEST
Dear Fisher Family -
Here are the latest fundraisers we will be holding to raise money for our Fisher’s Finest Rally for the Jimmy Fund team. We offer a variety of ways for families to support our efforts, and while you are welcome to participate in all of them if you choose, we certainly do not expect you to!
Change For a Cure
Our “Change for a Cure” campaign is beginning this week. Each student and family has been invited to look around the house (under couch cushions, on the floor, etc.) for spare change or to perform a chore at home and raise money to contribute to a jar in their classroom. Another option is to donate the money received from refunding bottles. Student council representatives collect the money weekly from each classroom and calculate the totals. On April 8th, the Friday before Home Opening Day for the Red Sox, the class that has averaged the most money collected per student will receive authentic Red Sox Rally baseball caps to wear on Opening Day at Fenway, April 11th. Should we raise the most money of any school participating in the rally this year, and win the visit from a member of the Red Sox team, the winning class will also receive VIP (front row) seating for the assembly! Thank you for your support.
Jammies for the Jimmy Fund
This Thursday, February 11th, is Jammies for the Jimmy Fund day at Fisher. For a donation of $1.00 or more to the Jimmy Fund, students (and staff!) can wear their PJs to school. This was a huge success this year, and we want to thank the Student Council for sponsoring it again this year. All money collected by each classroom will be credited to that class’s “Change for the Cure” totals as a bonus!
Join Us Online!
One of the most important ways you can help is by joining our team online. To show your support, please visit our team’s official fundraising page,
http://www.rallyforthejimmyfund.org/2016/fishersfinest
and click on the blue “JOIN TEAM” button located on the right side of the page. If every family in the school joins with a minimum $5 gift, we would be able to provide Dana-Farber with enough money to provide treatment and support to countless families battling cancer. After you’ve joined the team, you will get your own personal fundraising page. Please share this with your family and friends, inviting them to make a gift to the Jimmy Fund as well. The more people who join, the bigger the team, and the more money we can raise to help find a cure for cancer.
Green Monster Wall of Honor
If you visit school in February, watch for our new Green Monster Wall of Honor for 2016 on the wall in the hallway leading to the auditorium. With a donation of any amount, you can honor a loved one who has battled cancer written on a special baseball and hung on the wall in their honor or memory. A flyer will be going home with the students that you can fill out and return with your gift and a photo of the person you are honoring, if you choose. Checks should be made payable to “The Jimmy Fund.” Thank you!
Monday, April 11th - Red Sox Home Opening Day,
Students are encouraged to wear their Red Sox shirts, caps, etc., to school to show their support for both the Red Sox and Fisher’s Finest.
Dinner and Dessert Fundraiser
A number of families have asked, so we will be doing another Dinner and Dessert fundraiser with Soul Warming Soup and Mrs. Fields’ cookies in the next few weeks. Order forms and flyers will be sent home right after February vacation with a mid–March delivery.
Stay Tuned for some Family Fun at Fisher
Stay tuned for more information about a Family Movie Night at Fisher. Details will be sent home soon.
Our Goal
Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 this year, surpassing last year’s total. With just a little bit of support from every family, we can certainly reach and hopefully exceed it! As we have stated previously, we certainly don’t expect families to participate in every fundraising event – we want to provide you with some choices and hope these events provide something for everyone! If you have any questions, please contact either of the team coaches, Carolyn McDonough or Kathy Vose. Thanks for your support!
