Enrollment
What is Montessori
- Who is MMA
- What does each level have to offer
- Advisory leads (Jen, Jalee, Kirsten, Giusseppe)- share the highlights of their levels. Why is our school important- why should people come to MMA.
February 14, Share the LOVE Day
Share the Love Day is NOT CANCELLED but the parameters have drastically changed.
February 14 will be a day of MMA tours and presentations with Support Staff. If you are having a class party on this day please let us know the time so we do not disturb your class during a tour.
Students will not be able to just get dropped off and come in the MMA doors. Students will come with their parents to tour the school and observe a classroom with support staff.
If a child comes to your class who is not an MMA student and does not have a parent- you will need to bring them to the office.
Please share the following RSVP link to your blogs and via email to parents along with the positive messages in regards to MMA and each level we offer. If you would like to add your own testimonial this would be fabulous as well. https://forms.gle/c55cn76RkRAYryRL8

Hopefully with 50 of us sharing this through the social media accounts we can get some people here to see this wonderful school community.
MMA Director position has been posted
Attached is the post that is now on Teacher to Teacher regarding the opening for the Maria Montessori Academy.
If you feel you are a qualified applicant or you feel you know a qualified person please follow the instructions on the post.
This is a wonderful school environment. No one has all the answers when it comes to being an administrator. Daily you will learn new things to put in your knowledge base. Consider it. I plan on being here until someone is announced and help make a transition.
Best regards,
Mike

SAFETY
SNACK BAGS:
This week each class will be receiving snack bags with a letter inside explaining what to do.
Please send these snack bags home, please put on your blogs the purpose and the importance of them to return.
The snack bags are for the classroom emergency kits. With so many allergies and the cost of food- we found it better for each home to provide the snack in case of an emergency.
Once returned these snack bags will go into the classroom emergency bag. Please make sure that the snack bag has the child's first and last name on it (this will be in the letter).
EMERGENCY BAGS:
Emergency bags will NOW be required to go out with us for any emergency or emergency drill. We are revamping the bags. Please make sure that the bags are in each of your classrooms- for JH they need to stay in advisory.
FANNY PACKS:
We are ordering new fanny packs!
AED MACHINE:
We are looking to have an AED machine. If anyone knows someone who may be able to help donate for this large purchase, please talk with Mr. Mike.
STEM Week
Activities in classes by levels
Levels have set up activities for their own classrooms.
5th graders will be demonstrating their Engineering Projects in the Elementary hallways from the front foyer. Please talk with your students about the respect of the projects- for looking eyes only.
6th and 8th Grade Science Fair
6th and 8th grade students will need to go directly to the gym to set up and then they will return back to class.
There will be an announcement for them to come back when judging will begin.
Judging will take place from 9:00-approximately 1:00 (depending on when judging will end)
From 1:15-2:45 classes will be able to come observe the projects. There will be an announcement to call classes down. Please talk with your class about expectations when observing the projects: walking, not touching, talking quietly. Remind them there are people that are scoring the judging marks to find the results and this takes concentration.
General Schedule:
8:30-students set up
9:00-1:00 judging
1:15-1:35 EC observe
1:35-2:00 LE observe
2:00-2:30 UE observe
2:30-2:45 JH observe with advisory

MMA Spelling Bee- February 25
In regards to the spelling bee, we have decided to change things a bit this year. We will be doing one spelling bee school wide instead of two, as we have in the past. The school wide spelling bee will only be for grades 3-9. We have decided to do this because the regional spelling bee is only for 3rd grade and up.
We encourage lower el to get the Level 2 and level 3 bee list to your level 3 students to study as well as the level 1 list. Please also encourage all students who wish to participate in your class bee to do so. You will need to have a class spelling bee and have the 2 students who will participate in the school bee by February 14. There will be a googledoc sent out where you can add these student names. As stated, this year each class will only send 2 students to the school bee.
Jr. High will have 4 total students in the schoolwide bee. As a committee, we thought Ms. Dore might be the best one to select these students as she is the ELA teacher. However, you can all decide how you want to do this, just remember, you can send 4 students.
The school spelling bee will be on Tuesday, February 25, at 9:30 a.m. in the big gym. All classes are invited to attend. If some of your class chooses not to, please make sure they are supervised by your assistants. We will set up the gym as in the past with room for students in front and chairs for parents in the back. We realize that inviting the whole school is a lot of students. The first classes to arrive will be able to sit in front of the chairs and the later classes will need to sit on the sides of the gym.
Again, we know this is different than we have done in the past, so we ask for your patience. We hope it will work out well and be a more positive experience for all.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
