The Production and Benefits of Lean Beef

Join the Montgomery District Dietetic Association for its April meeting at the Alabama Cattlemen's Association. Dinner will be provided. The meeting will be held in the board room on the 3rd floor. Look for signage upon entering the building.


The association is planning a meal for us so it is very important that you RSVP. Please RSVP by Thursday, April 7th by entering your name and email below, then clicking the RSVP button. Or, you can email Cacyce Davis at cdavis@alsde.edu. We need an exact count so the Alabama Cattlemen's Association can plan the meal.


Objectives: The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association will provide a beef program to district dietetic associations with multiple objectives mind:

  1. Communicate with dietitians about the steps in cattle production to provide a better understanding of how beef gets from pasture to plate in the United States.

  2. Conduct a Q & A session about hot topics that dietitians may encounter from their patients. Some examples include food safety concerns and hormone use in raising cattle.

  3. Communicate the ways that lean beef fits into MyPlate and demonstrate simple buying, cutting and cooking of lean cuts of beef for dietitians to recommend to patients who are looking for different protein options in their diet.
