HEART SAFE SCHOOL
BISD is recognized as a Heart Safe School District by Cook Children’s Heart Center—1 of only 22 school districts in the state to achieve this designation through the Project ADAM program at Cook Children’s. Each school has an Emergency Response Team and a plan in the event of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. https://bit.ly/HeartSafeDistrict
BISD Child Nutrition
The Child Nutrition Department has migrated all programs to the TITAN Platform at https://family.titank12.com/. Here, parents can apply for free and reduced price meals, add money to a student’s account, monitor student’s transactions, and see our most up to date menu. Additionally, the TITAN Family Connect App is available from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Parents can take care of all their Child Nutrition needs directly from their mobile device. Additional information is available on the Child Nutrition website or by contacting the department at X1008.

Attendance: Texas Education Code
Dear Parent / Legal Guardian:
Our district’s goal is that all students will be successful. One of the most important factors that contribute to a student’s academic success is their attendance in class on a daily basis. As a partner in your child’s success, Burleson Independent School District wants to encourage you to make school attendance a top priority for your child.
Texas Education Code states that it is the parents’ duty to monitor and require their child to
attend school (TEC 25.093). The Code further states that if a student is absent 10 or more days or parts of days within a six-month period in the same year or on three or more days or parts of days within a four-week period may be considered excessive. The following is an example of what is
subject to happen if your child has excessive absences:
(1) The student’s parent is subject to prosecution under Section 25.093, Texas Education
Code; and
(2) The student is subject to referral to a truancy court for truant conduct under Section
65.003(a), Family Code.
Please make every effort to see that your child is in school and that you have notified us of
his/her absence (i.e., calling the school on the day of the absence with the reason for the absence), or that your student has returned with the appropriate excuse documentation (i.e., note from a doctor, dentist, therapist, or court representative including student’s name, date of absence(s) and professional’s signature, or funeral documentation). According to Burleson ISD School Board Policy FEC (Local), if your child is absent for 3 or more consecutive days, a doctor’s note will be required.
Burleson Independent School District appreciates the opportunity to work in partnership with
parents in our goal to ensure student success in all their endeavors. Please contact us if you have any questions concerning attendance issues.
