Please Welcome!!

Please welcome to Boone Meadow our new staff member, Stephanie Emenhiser! As of this past Friday, Stephanie joined our Kindergarten team as an instructional assistant. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Art, and is considering a transition to education. We welcome her smile and vast talents to our team to help wrangle our growing population of five year olds. Beginning of Year (BOY) Conferences

I'm truly enjoying the times I've had with staff members thus far to discover your year long plans in regard to understanding your students and professional development goals. Please refer to my previous email regarding specific details regarding the process. Keep in mind that this is new for me, and I am quickly catching up to speed. FYI - I will be out of the building for both Thursday and Friday of this week for RISE Evaluator training. Also keep in mind that Kris Devereaux (your secondary evaluator) will be coming for short observations within the next couple of weeks.

Professional Learning Communities

It appears everyone has signed up for PLCs. Keep your eyes posted for upcoming information regarding the start of the PLCs. We will officially launch in early September.

RtI - Response to Instruction

The RtI team met last week to begin planning for upcoming support and structures. Later in the week, I will send information regarding documentation and monitoring structures.

Classroom teachers, please mark your calendar for Friday, September 26th. On this day, we will have floating subs to cover classes so teachers can present data and information regarding students of concern. Each team will be allotted approximately one hour of time to dialogue with the RtI team.

Once again, I will send an email within the next few days with details regarding documentation and other pertinent information.

Walk to School Day - October 8th

I have been in conversation with PTO regarding participation in the National Walk to School Day on October 8th! We are considering various options to make this a simple, safe, and successful venture. More info to come.

Social Affairs Team

Thanks to Amanda Rush and Sarah Walker for launching the 2014-2015 Social Affairs team. Please consider donating to support this worthy cause which contributes greatly to our staff family.

Thanks, Amanda and Sarah. Your efforts are appreciated.

Beautification Project/Event - 9/20 @ 9:00-11:00

The PTO Beautification Committee (led by Deb Roach) has planned an event this Saturday to spruce up the grounds and prepare for fall/winter. Bring your gloves, trowels, or any other gardening gear you may have, and put your green thumb to work.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher/Student conferences are scheduled the week before Fall Break. I fully understand that you need longer than that one week to adequately share data, progress, and critical information & updates on the little tikes in your class. Please feel free to schedule parent/teacher/student conferences througout the month of October at your (and parents') convenience. As you establish your schedule, please be sure to submit a copy of your schedule to the office. Marissa will keep a copy, which allows us insight to assist in directing individuals and providing reminders or clarification if families would happen to contact us.

Enough is enough, already!

Sorry, gang, that this has been so lengthy. I just wanted to be sure you got the important information. I also wanted to try this free website and see how well it worked. Thanks for letting me "guinea pig" on you.

Have a great week, team.

Never underestimate the power of your words this week. They have the power to speak life when someone needs to hear it. In addition, they can harm. Choose wisely, as I know you will.

Peace-

Tom
