The Horseshoe Review
The Copeland PTO Newsletter
President's Corner by Cree Sanford
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It was great to have a week off, wasn’t it?! It just makes us look forward to the two weeks the kiddos will have off for the Christmas holidays. Only three more weeks and the students and staff will be out for the winter break – that is just so hard to believe!!
Anyway, it will be a busy time at Copeland until then. We have some SRC demos for our 2nd graders coming up and the wonderful Copeland Spirit Cart on December 9th! Our Fabulous Fifth Graders will be having their annual field trip downtown to see Scrooge on Friday, December 2nd. This is always a fun day for the students to dress up to go and see a play. They get to come back to a luncheon and the cafeteria all decorated for them. It is such a special day for our 5th graders and we wish them all the best! The 5th grade music program will be on Tuesday, December 13th. This date will also be our first general PTO meeting for the year. Please plan on joining us that evening at 6:45pm for a short business meeting followed by a performance from our 5th grade students. What a great way to kick off the Holiday season!
Our traditional Christmas parties will be held on Friday, December 16th during school hours. You should be receiving a letter or email from your homeroom coordinator indicating ways that you can help with your child’s party. We can’t do it without you!! Look for the party schedule in today’s Horseshoe Review. Our parties are always a great way to get the Christmas season started…. after all it is the most wonderful time of the year!

Terrific 3rd Graders by Tracy Reynolds and Emily Bargas
The garden is growing and the kids are having so much fun in the garden. The 3rd graders have gotten to plant , pick, cook, and eat the bok choy that they grew. The kids have gotten to plant from seed and eat fresh radishes and arugula from the garden. The students will be planting hay bales in February to learn more about the composting process and a new way to grow plants. If anyone has a hay bale that you used for a yard decoration, can you please donate it to school. If any parents want to help in the garden the next garden day is December 14. Parents are always welcomed to help and learn from the garden.
