Congratulations to the Class of 2021!
Superintendent David C. Bills and Board of Education President, Kimberly Coyne, presided over the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2021 at the Center of Progress Building at the NYS Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 19. To see a listing of the 'Top Eleven' from the Class of 2021 click here.
New District Fine Arts Director is Announced
On June 16, 2021 Sarah Gentile was appointed by the Board of Education as the new Fine Arts Director replacing Bill Davern who is retiring on July 1, 2021.
Gentile has served the Syracuse City School District for 23 years. Most recently, she has been the Supervisor of Fine Arts since 2013. Previous to that time she was a peer observer and music teacher.
Artists are Inducted into the National Art Honor Society

Dancers are Inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts
Congratulations to the students from West Genesee High School who were eligible for membership and were inducted this winter who were the following graduating seniors: Kathryn Bush-Dudley, Leah Corcoran, Amanda Demmerle, and Lucy Neimeier; and juniors: Abby Fassinger, Sara M. Kelly, Meagan Medina, and Abby Pattermann.
Food Pantry Information for Over the Summer
Many students enjoy breakfast and lunch at school on a regular basis. It is understandable when families find it challenging to provide those meals during school vacations.
Food pantries partner with the Food Bank of CNY to provide low cost, nutritious food to those in need. The following is a list of food pantries and services available in our community to assist families. Please know that you will be serviced by the food pantry nearest your legal address. If you have questions or need assistance please call: The Interreligious Food Consortium (IRC) weekdays at 315-474-8855 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Their website is: http://www.ifccny.org/.

District to Discontinue Blackboard Mobile App July 1, 2021
As of July 1, 2021 the District will no longer be offering its Blackboard mobile app. The District has decided to discontinue the app since the District website is mobile responsive and has translation capabilities (which is not offered from the app.) since last summer; we now use Tip411; and we shifted to SchoolMessenger to send communications. Thank you for using our app!
West Genesee PTA/PTO District Council is Again Sponsoring School Supply Drive
For 12 years, West Genesee PTA/PTO District Council has been collecting and providing school supplies to students in need.

CNY Broadband Survey for the Community
The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) has partnered with its member counties (Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego) to identify where our neighbors lack reliable access to broadband internet. And they are looking to you to make a difference.
To help your community all you must do is complete a quick and confidential survey about internet access and affordability at: https://www.cnyinternet.com/onondaga-county-home. You can take the survey from any computer or mobile device with internet access.
