Birmingham Covington Schools (BCS)
Welcome, BCS Families!
August 17, 2021
Dear BCS Families,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! For those new to BCS, we welcome you to an incredibly innovative and vibrant educational community. Here at BCS, we are committed to providing the best, most enriching education for each and every Cobra. Our mission is to inspire students to become global community leaders with a passion for learning, innovating, inquiry, and design. Given the nature of the pandemic and its impact on education & schools, we are in a unique time to revisit our core BCS values, mission, vision, and beliefs. We invite you, as parents/guardians and partners in education, to share some insights you may have via our Parent/Guardian BCS Core Values Survey as we reconnect with our core BCS principles and work together to accelerate forward. Respectively, our school theme this year will be- "Reflections of the Past, Accelerating into the Future."
As we continue to prepare for an exciting new school year, Assistant Principal, Mr. Jason Hill, and I would like to welcome some new (but mostly familiar) members of our BCS team. This year, we are thrilled to welcome Ms.Lauren Bates (3/4 Teacher), Mrs. Michelle McNulty (3/4 Teacher), and Ms. Olivia Zang (Orchestra Teacher), as new members of our wonderful BCS teaching faculty. Returning from leave, we welcome back Mrs. Jill Stegall-Vollis (Social Worker) and Mr. Jordy Whitmer (Thinkering/Engage Teacher). We would like to wish the very best to Mr. Tom Seley (Media Specialist- Pierce Elementary) and Mrs. Kim Davis (Learning Resource Center, Pembroke/Beverly Elementary) in their new, exciting roles in our district. We sincerely thank them for their many years of dedicated service to our BCS students and families.
We look forward to seeing you at our Back-to-School Days on August 19 or August 24. Please refer to the information below regarding plans for this event. Should you have questions or need to find the correct BCS contact to answer your question, please reference our linked resource: BCS_Connect_With_Us.
Yours in BCS Solidarity,
Dr. Omar Hakim
