Supporting Your Gifted Child During COVID-19
1) Avoid exposure to news and media, especially television and video.
2) Teach your child to be helpful. According to the article, Helping Others Dampens the Effects of Everyday Stress, “Providing help to friends, acquaintances, and even strangers can mitigate the impact of daily stressors on our emotions and our mental health, according to research published in Clinical Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science." Some examples are clean an elderly neighbor’s yard or take their trash cans to the street on trash days.
3) Encourage the whole family to exercise! Rhythmic exercises like walking or running help, as does listening to music and dancing.
