The Seahawk Scoop
June 14, 2021
Dear Beach Middle Families,
We made it! With only a few days left of school, I want to thank our entire community for the support we received throughout the year. We were presented with challenge after challenge, but our students, parents, and staff forged ahead. The messages of encouragement meant so much to all of us. We will be taking time this week to discuss and celebrate our growth and achievements in the classroom. I hope you will do the same at home. All of us have much to be proud of and thankful for. I join all of you in excitement for a normal school year in 21-22, including the return of student activities and sports.
We sent our 8th graders off with awards, a yard sign, and many prizes this past week. A huge shout out to our PTA for their support with this event. This particular class of 8th graders missed out on a lot of middle school milestones. They are such a great group of kids and we are thankful for being able to have them in the building for the time we did. They are going to do wonderful things!
Contact will be made soon with parents who need to register their child for summer school. Parents will have access to final grades in ParentVue on June 18. Report cards will be mailed home on June 22.
I do encourage you to strongly consider registering your child for one of the many summer boost programs that the Department of Teaching and Learning have put together. These programs are free of charge and designed to help students build confidence in mathematics or science content and skills as they preview courses they plan to take for the 2021-2022 school year. A link to more information is below.
Save the date for Open House- The evening of September 2. Exact times to be announced as we get closer. We are planning an in person event pending division and CDC guidance.
Please review the entire newsletter- below you will find the adjusted dismissal schedule for June 18, information on expungement of courses, 7th grade vaccination requirements, a link to the 21-22 MS Physical Form, and a reminder regarding 21-22 bus transportation.
Thank you for your continued support of Beach Middle. I hope everyone has a fantastic summer!

VBCPS is offering a new summer program for middle school and high school students at no cost to parents and/or guardians. The Summer Learning Boost program is designed to help students build confidence in mathematics or science content and skills as they preview courses they plan to take for the 2021-2022 school year. Each course is comprised of 8-12 lessons which are self-paced to fit your summer schedule. A teacher will monitor the course and be available to meet with students during office hours to answer any questions.

If you are a parent of a child taking a high school credit, they have the unique one time opportunity as a middle schooler to expunge the grade and ERASE it from their transcript and they would retake the class next year (or they have the option to choose a new class). If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please fill out the form located at https://forms.gle/KLCU3hkWFLYfSV3P6. Once they move on to high school, you will be unable to have any grades removed and expunged.
Transportation for 2021-22: Parents Please Update by July 5th
The Office of Transportation and Fleet Management Services is hard at work on the bus schedule for the 2021-22 school year, and we need your help to make certain that we have the buses and drivers needed to get everyone to and from school safely and on time.
Your child(ren)’s bus information lives inside ParentVue, which houses bus stop location, bus times and bus number. Instructions on how to access this information is attached to this message. If you have not activated your ParentVUE account, instructions are available here. We ask that you let us know of your transportation needs and confirm or update the information in your account no later than July 5.
As of July 6, the information in ParentVue will be locked so bus routes and schedules can be planned. If you think your child's bus stop is incorrect, or if you have requested transportation and it is not in ParentVue, please contact the school where your child is enrolled.
Thank you for your continued support of Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
Parents of Rising 7th Graders
