Message from Dr. Simmons Regarding Masks
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) changed its guidance to state that fully vaccinated people are no longer required to wear a mask indoors or outdoors. However, as of today, face coverings continue to be required in Maryland Schools, according to the Governor’s Executive Order, which was renewed on May 12.
To date, we have not received updated guidance on masks from the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) or the Caroline County Health Department (CCHD). Until the Governor, MDH and MSDE change orders that specifically address schools, existing mask mandates on school properties remain in effect.
I know this is discouraging news but given how far we’ve come in this challenging year, I have faith we will remain vigilant as long as necessary. If or when guidance is updated, we’ll advise our school family. In the meantime, please be patient as we set our sights on successful graduation ceremonies for our seniors and a positive end to the school year.

Interim Superintendent of Schools
